headphones choice please help

+1 on the ATH-M50s. I love mine, and thought they aren't the most comfortable, they are very versatile. Decent sound stage and good isolation. If you're going for flat mixing headphones, the Sennheiser HD600s are what you want, but those will leak sound and thus are only good for getting a rough mix. Plus they cost a little over twice as much as the ATH-M50s.

Also, that's all you can realistically get on almost any headphone, a rough mix. Unless you know the ins and outs of a set of phones, a good room and monitor setup will get you better results.
