Anyone tried this? Seemed like a good way to purchase SOS but I can't seem to zoom into text or switch to landscape mode - is this possible? Seems silly if it isn't - with some pages the text is very small. Even a pdf would be better than this if you can't zoom.

I don't think it is possible. It's been designed that way. I actually really like it because it's custome made for iPad and so far I've not felt the need to zoom. But some of the text probably is a bit small for some people. But I love the way this works. I think it's the best newsstand magazine I've used so far. It's nice just to finally be able to SOS on iPad.

I agree, it is written so you don't have to zoom, the font size is as the actual magazine, to me this is vastly preferable to zooming on in a PDF where the page is shrunk to screen and becomes too small to read.
If you prefer PDF i think that is also available with the normal subscription/web browser. I have all the back issues as PDF (they sell you them on CD rom) - a lifetimes worth of information...

It doesn't appear to be the case for some pages - the text is far too small to read without zooming or a magnifying glass.SLiC wrote:I agree, it is written so you don't have to zoom

I think the app has just been updated. I don't think it allows zooming (bug fixes I think) but it might be worth dropping them a mail regarding any difficulties your having as it appears they are still tweaking the app.aMUSEd wrote:It doesn't appear to be the case for some pages - the text is far too small to read without zooming or a magnifying glass.SLiC wrote:I agree, it is written so you don't have to zoom
I do admit that some text is very small but perversely I quite like it as it shows how amazing the retina display is!!!
In all seriousness, is your eyesight ok? I wear glasses as I'm short-sighted (can't read stuff at distance) but I can read close up stuff fine and the text on the app is crystal clear to me, albeit very small. Plenty of people find reading glasses help with stuff like this as they get older, but we do, as DAW based musicians, probably spend enough time staring at VDU's that might possibly damage our vision.
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....
