COmputer Music has plans to make the DVD content available to digital subscribers. But they have no t said when this will happen. Future Music DVDs are usually much simpler affairs : videos, samples, but no software. I suppose that's why they already include the content.

On the other Hand, CM DVDs usually have over 7Gb of content.

All very valid points. Thx.

I would hope you could selectively download the content, not have to download a whole image every month.

If it's anything like the SOS app, it's AMAZING. The content is embedded in the magazine (ie, you just click and it plays it)

Yes, Fry's is a US store (though I'm not sure it's nation wide)

A lot of fun and sounds terrific.
Is this available in the US now?

I have no doubt it's worth getting the magazine just for this plug in, but sadly the places that used to sell CM around here are gone. I guess I could order it from somewhere... I do miss bookstores, but I guess it was partially my fault for buying stuff on Amazon. The fact that you don't get the DVD content if you buy the on-line version is silly.

Anyway, I've tried the demo of the full version and I feel that's worth the price they charge anyway. I just have so many similar instruments. Nothing about it super popped out for me as "I have to have this!" Very nice sounding synth though.

Dune CM doesn't appear to be x64. But I really like it anyway. If I upgrade, is the full version x64?

Dune is a very nice VSTi. Non biased comment :) And yes it is in x64

i'm just getting in to dune; on some level, i want it to replace sylenth1 (which is still 32bit on the mac, and hasn't been updated since the early 1900's...); they're similar in ways, but different enough that i am really using both.

dune has a warm, rich sound; great for arps, synths, pads, etc. the GUI is great (the effects, and the full soundsets, are worth upgrading to IMHO). it can get nastier (the distortion and eq effects help).

Thanks. Before I commit the cash, is there any upgrade path for DuneCM users?

Or any other specials, for that matter?

You just missed an easter sale

no sure about upgrading, does the mag say anything?

Post

I didn't see anything in the mag, but if you ask nice maybe Richard at Synapses will extend the Easter deal to you.

I need to delve into Dune more, it is definitely a wonderful synth and a no-brainer to get the CM version.

I don't want to go begging with the dev. He deserves to set his price.

I can probably limp along with Dune CM until the next sale. But I thought most of the big ticket plugs used the CM version as an excuse for special 'upgrade' promos. I've purchased a few items like that, which, I assume is the desired response.

Regardless, DuneCM is a very nice Easter egg all by itself.

Cheers

To be honest I did not want to like this synth and wasn't sure why it was released.
I figured between Sylenth and Synth 1, it's all covered...

I picked up the mag to try it out and had my mind changed.
My initial impression was that it has a more refined, smoother sound than the other two I mentioned - nto as gristly way up top in the highs. The unison(s) is great. I find gui very logical, easy to use, and therefore inviting, and it has been very cpu efficient. One thing I wish it could do, though I may just be missing it is adjust pulse width directly, instead of using an envelope. Overall It strikes me as a really friendly synth.

So I'm late to the party, but it has made me think hard about purchasing the full version to use as my workhorse, "put it in everything" synth. Dune is definitely worth it, and DuneCM a steal. It's easy power :)

50% is a square wave

you can also change the setting for each layer in the MM, no need to even go near an envelope
