But how does this explain the same problem with an m-audio Audiophile 2496 PCI?

You've got a point there - I missed that spot.

How do you ensure that these three interfaces do not interfere with each other?

There can only be one ASIO interface running at a time as far as I know. And it does not have to be Cubase selecting all, it may be Windows sounds etc.

Anyway I would stick with lets say the 2496 and get everything working there first and remove the rest from the system. Easy since it's USB.

If running Cubase x86 I would try x64 version if possible as well.

And I would kill Windows sounds, making Windows setting blank regarding audio. If onboard soundcard I would kill that in BIOS.

To narrow down it's good to simplify search into few areas.

I cna't say I had a problem with it, but graphics cards comes with HD Audio stuff nowadays, I usually disable those to be sure.

If wanting to work with NI Komplete Audio, uninstall 2496 drivers all the way. M-Audio is not known for their good drivers - rather the opposite.

That would be quite silly The only cables arriving at the back of the amplifier are coming from the NI KA6
I disabled onboard audio from the beginning.

And I still do not have a clue about it all.

The thing is people are trying to play music... in an overcrowded airplane, while in a pilot seat and not having a clue how to pilot. Read and learn about operating systems.

I've been with computers and OSes since the 90s, and I don't ever have any problems. I do run into problems on other's systems but I resolve them within minutes. It all comes down to knowing the tools you work with. Sorry, but that's a cruel fact.

If that doesn't work for somebody, stick to "hardware". It's more expensive, but easier to deal with. ADAT HD24 for example, you press "record" and it records.

That's a cruel answer isn't it? But really... true in the end.

I record all of my "performances" live at 3ms latencies and never have any problems. I can record with FX if I want, which I don't, I can do whatever I want and I have no problems with anything.

And I don't run antiviruses, too. I have a dedicated little computer for Internet btw. These go really cheap these days and are inaudible. Intel Atom ITX anybody? or AMD E350? Why do you run all of it on one computer in the first place? Use the little guy as a gateway. They all run passively and don't generate any noise. You can have an Intel Atom for a hundred bucks or something... it's less than many of the plugins cost.

Sorry for not being really helpful, but too many people these days think they can have all of it for nothing. You have to know the shi* you're dealing with and it's boundaries and downsides. Windows system doesn't like things running in the background, for instance. It's so badly programmed and it doesn't deal with the multitasking well. Get rid of the BG programs. All of them. That's a great start.

Oh, and I still use XP, what an idiot I am huh? Believe me it's for a good reason, and I've made tests. I wanted to go OS-X, too, but after testing it turned out that XP is the best option no matter how much I hated it... if people asked me, we would all be jamming nicely on a Linux with real time kernel as that is the only OS in existence today that can deal with real time audio normally, as we expect it to.

Me too, since the late 80s. But if you resolve ALL problems you encounter "within minutes", they couldn't have been that serious.
