Saurus demo is safe!

There was a recent thread about possible security issues with the Tone2 Saurus demo, and it got a bit heated and eventually locked. In case anyone read part of it but not the eventual resolution, I just wanted to make it clear that after much discussion and testing it was determined there was no malware, spyware, or manipulation of user files outside of Tone2's own application. There should be no concern for anyone wanting to install and try this synth. My appologies go out to Marcus and Tone2 if the inquiry caused them any stress. That was never my intention and so wanted to make an effort to ensure no one is left with the impression the demo is unsafe. Thank you and good day!

Many thanks for your summary and clarification. Indeed like i and others already mentioned several times in that other thread there don't seem to be any security problems with the Saurus demo and i could say the same for ElectraX and Gladiator 2 too. Same about both of the full versions of Saurus and ElectraX.braj wrote:There was a recent thread about possible security issues with the Tone2 Saurus demo, and it got a bit heated and eventually locked. The copy protection with the key file is one of the nicest and easiest to handle of all of my plugins BTW. The serial number protection of e.g. Diva is nice too but you have to reenter it anytime you install a new update. This is not the case with the keyfile (file format: *.t2k).
BTW i know that the demo limitations are a bit annoying but with the next update there should be one with a longer timeout.

Hm... I have never had to enter my keyfile more than once for any U-he plugin. The updates don't impair the registration at all.Ingonator wrote:

Ingonator, I condition hillarious for a guy that says he hates all the mentions of Diva at KVR that you are happy to mention it in a negative light any chance you get
you and other Tone2 minions were part of the problem in that other thread, please don't do the same here. I just want this to be about Saurus being ok to clear that up, a simple statement without it getting heated over any partisan nonsense. Thanks for understanding.

I never had to re-enter anything when I updated zebra or ace, ingo, did you delete the other stuff first and clear out the registry ? Or did you just update over it. I can't think of any synth i've had to re-enter all my details to update unless I am forced to uninstall a version first.

And Ingo, you win the prize for bringing Diva into a Saurus thread by only the second comment. And whatever mayhem may ensue, you started it!

I followed the recent discussions a bit.braj wrote:Ingonator, I condition hillarious for a guy that says he hates all the mentions of Diva at KVR that you are happy to mention it in a negative light any chance you getyou and other Tone2 minions were part of the problem in that other thread, please don't do the same here. From what I've read Ingo is NO Tone2 "Minion". He's a respected sound designer who is very new to the Tone2 synths afaik. But he is enthousiastic about them, as he is regularly with synths where he designs presets for. There are many to mention. He also does a lot of presets for a lot of different (among different freeware) synths. The only developer you could mention that he could be affiliated with a bit is Waldorf I think.
And afaik he certainly doe not "hate" DIVA being mentioned, I'm sure of that. Only thing he said was he gets a little tired off the DIVA vs Saurus discussions. Or should I call them "Minion wars"?
I see you in almost every DIVA and Saurus thread lately. In favour of DIVA so it seems(?). So what does that make you?
And what about this thread? First you apologise to Tone2, and right after that you heat up a new "discussion" by reacting like that on Ingonators words?
Weird!

I don't see anything really negative about either Saurus or Diva in my comment and that i have to reenter my serial number for new updates of Diva is a fact.braj wrote:Ingonator, I condition hillarious for a guy that says he hates all the mentions of Diva at KVR that you are happy to mention it in a negative light any chance you getyou and other Tone2 minions were part of the problem in that other thread, please don't do the same here. I have mentioned around 1000 times at KVR that i like both Saurus and Diva so where is your problem?
I was one of the first people to buy Diva (i guess i purchased it only minutes after the link came out...) and made a big set of factory presets for it. Anyway i mentioned a few times that i had a few problem with CPU usage of Diva at my system which is a fact too. I have also mentioned that this should be finally solved as soon as i get a new PC.
Most things i mentioned at that other Saurus thread were facts which at the end have proven to be correct.
I thought that this thread was a possibility to calm things down a bit but obviously this is not possible. It's you who started this thread so you could expect a kind of reaction. If you just wanted to apologize you could have done that with a PM to Bastiaan for example.
And please don't call me a Tone2 "minion". I am a customer (i purchased both Saurus and ElectraX) which likes their products and decided to both do sounds for them (for Saurus first) and also to enter the beta team. You could be sure that i mention things i don't like or that are supoposed to be bugs but i usually do that either at the company forum, by an email to Bastiaan or at the closed Beta forum.
I am usually a calm and handsome guy but in some cases i also tell my opinion which is the right of any member here at KVR.
I hope that my point is finally clear and if not i don't really know what else i have to say. So now pleace try to keep peace and stay cool (like i do based on your reactions) at least for a while.

many thanks for your reply. This pretty much sums up what i wanted to say in my own post which i just wrote here.
The thing with Waldorf is true as almost everone should know. Just look at my signature...

@ Into, sorry for calling you a minion, that actually should have had a wink attached as it is sort of a running joke and I was trying to be funny.
And I'm sure you are a very handsome guy

Hey I'm in a whole lot of threads on kvr, just because they also happen to include certain synths does not make me a partisan.

And Ingo said he is tired of Diva being mentioned, not just Diva vs. Saurus. I should know, I'm in all these threads, right?
