Tremor. I know its drum synth, but since it has come out it has become priceless.
Reaktor as well for reasons previously stated.
In terms of hardware, I use a modular synthesizer, so it is whatever modules I have presently.
I have so many vsts though, so picking even a handful is hard.

The synth I use the most is Stylus RMX. If not including percussion, Kontakt is used the most. If not including romplers/samplers, Diva is used the most.

...which was my point...
the other being, it's not money or what we buy that counts....

I love Z3ta, Massive and Nexus, but Blade creeps in there along with Predator and Gladiator (which I strangely prefer to ElectraX) Would still like to play with Saurus. And DIVA is still a few new computers away I'm afraid...(I need my omnicore processor)

I will put Diversion in that last statement also.

Harmor
For every other synth in my projects there are at least 3-4 instances of Harmor. It's been a revelation to me, and I don't even fully understand it yet.

MPC-style single-sample-per-pad-drum would be FXpansion's "Geist" its click pad and click on the left of a Folder containg sample not only previews the sound but it also assigns it like that without doing a "load sample" you can even try different combinations of sample on the fly without stopping the DAW.
it even has its own Sequencer that can export as a midi file
http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=120
Sampler for Multi-sampled Drums and anything that is not a Synth sound
is Native-instruments' "Kontakt 5"
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... kontakt-5/
Dubstep Synth is NI's "massive".The "stepper" is amazing at creating Wobble basses. you can use it to modulate the rate of an Lfo hold a note-down
and it goes "waa wahhh wiwiwiwi wooooooAHHHooow "
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... r/massive/
Pads and freaky ambiences/textures is NI's Absynth
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... absynth-5/
bread and butter ordinary Synth sounds is Logic's ES2
great sound and CPU friendly(probably because its not made to handle all of the other DAWS out there, so great Code optimizations)
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun07/a ... h_0607.htm
Clavinet sounds is Logic's EVD6
Since logic only costs 200 bux, its a great bargain for Mac users.
Retro 60ies compact organs are Martinic "Combo F" and "Combo V"
http://www.martinic.com/combov/
Rhodes & wurly is Loundge-lizard
i use loundge-lizard "session" its only 99 bux(got mine cheaper during a sale)
i dont need all the extra stuff the full version has
http://www.applied-acoustics.com/loungelizard/overview/
commodore c64 SID-chip drums,synth and FX is ReFX's QuadraSID
http://refx.com/products/quadrasid/summary/
Example Video
I also like the free "TAL-Bassline" for very simple SH-101 type sound the Arpegiator is fun for trying new things.
http://kunz.corrupt.ch/products/tal-bassline
thats what Logic is missing an Arpegiator that u can turn on and off.
instead of messing around the "logic environement"
all plugins should contain at least a simple Arpegiator
those are best and favorite instruments
