Is this working good with "virtual midi" ? cool, I did not even knowJohnser wrote:Vitaliy.NET wrote:swoops, for Midi Studio 1.0 ver:
Awesome! Haven't done wireless yet but Midi Studio is excellent for controlling virtual midi on the iPad. I am using the dual keyboard with ThumbJam on channel 1 and NlogSynth Pro on channel 2. Very nice!
Best iphone/itouch MIDI controller apps?

That was my first post on KVR for sure. Been lurking here for ages, saw the codes, tried it, commented and now I'm a shill! Shilly me! Well I'm real and the app really does do virtual midi as described. It sort of makes me angry that you said that but I've noticed you have to be thick-skinned on this forum so I don't mind. In any case it's a nice app.steveyt wrote:Hmmm, a couple of 1 post users extolling the virtues of midi studio. I call shill

Vitaliy.NET, thank you for the code. I had not seen MIDI Studio before. I am looking for something I can hook directly to my rackmount synth when I don't want to set up all my equipment. I also need something to control real-time edits to the sounds while I am playing.

This sounds quite promising!Vitaliy.NET wrote:mindnoise wrote:Presets/templates/layouts will be in next version 2.0. But not only this feature will be, you can check what new will be in Midi Studio on this website: www.wiksnet.com. There are many interesting features: like midi guitar, custom drawing, etc... I think next release of Midi Studio 2.0 will be in 23 June.Vitaliy.NET wrote:@mindnoise
PS: now will it also support Presets?

Are there other apps that can do this? I have been playing with this all day, had MoDrum in the background more or less in time with an arp playing on NlogSynth which I was controlling with the top keyboard and playing Sunrizer on the bottom keyboard, just jamming, changing keys on Nlog. I know the app wasn't designed to be a multi-synth player on the iPad so it lacks a lot of convenient controls. For instance I couldn't find a way to make the cutoff/res and adsr knobs work. I tried midi learn on Sunrizer and Sunrizer got the cc's, apparently, but I still couldn't get a response. I'm sure if I knew more midi it would all work, or hope so? I would also love an easy way to mix the volume of the keyboards. Which got me thinking, are there other apps out there that can control multiple apps that way? I know Geo and others can control single apps like ThumbJam etc. But I don't remember hearing of anything like this. Genome is really good now at sequencing multiple apps. I woud love it if White Noise should consider incorporating something like this. I haven't actually tried GeoSynth so I don't know if it has this.

Thanks a lot!
Fantastic app, First one I have found that is usable and works very well on an iPhone - going to review on the Itunes store
I used up the following code.

EDIT: iTunes store will not allow me to write a review as I didn't 'buy' the app. A quick google search confirms that you cannot write a review if you redeemed with a promo code.Vitaliy.NET wrote:EEMR7AXAXAM9

Well, having tried a few other iPhone midi apps (including touchosc and ITM), controls that were either the wrong size or didn't work well on an iPhone and latency issues meant that I had given up on the idea of ever using an iPhone as a MIDI controller.Vitaliy.NET wrote:Yes I know thanks, I mean to leave comments here.
Having now played with MIDI Studio for a little while, my faith in using an iPhone as a MIDI controller has been restored.
The keyboard page has nice size controls. Setting it to dual keyboard makes tapping out a rhythm remarkably easy, while the single keyboard layout even has room for envelope and filter controls. The keyboard size can be changed to suit (although the default size is perfect for me) and can be customised for scales. There is a programmable arpeggiator that can run on the internal clock or synced to the host.
The controller section has a knobs page which has both Envelopes & LFO and a filter, and a fader page with 6 faders per page and 117 in total! The arrows to scroll through the banks of 6 faders act as bank select arrows in the host (and it is great fun watching my ProjectMix I/O faders jump all over the place as I flick through the banks on the iPhone).
Add to that a 15 pad drum controller where each pad is the perfect size for your thumb (and has greyscale pictures so you know what drum you are hitting) and an X&Y controller, this is an all-round fantastic controller app for your iPhone.
The layout is well thought out, the app is very responsive and a joy to use.
My initial thoughts were that the asking price of $10.99 (that is £7.49 to us in the UK) was a little high for an iPhone app however, after having played with it, i consider the price a real bargain. i also consider this the only iPhone app that I have come across so far that can truly call itself a MIDI controller.

Thanks Vitaly for the code.
I was looking at your app since Peter Kirn show it on the CDM website but i was not sure to find it useful since i already have Lemur. I just try it for a few minutes and i really like it.
The things i like:
no latency on Windows with rtpmidi,
the keyboard is nice and very pleasant to use and the idea of two keyboard is great (i try with Kontakt standalone) ,
the arpeggiator and the custom scales are fantastic, it works great and it's very easy to use,
i have try the pads with Battery and having 24 pads is very useful.
I have find the velocity as a good addition but it's a little bit erratic and to access the full velocity you have to hit the ipad hard, i need to try it a little more.
The knobs and faders are smooth with a preference for the fader.
Overall it's a really great app for every owner of ipad who need to control their midi stuff or daw. Very easy to understand and use (if i compare it with Lemur) and with the new version coming (i was waiting for it ...) it's really a no-brainer.
I use the following code : TYPMXNRKWTW3
and here is the link to the CDM article :CDM on Midi Studio
Again thank you Vitaly
