I guess then, what would be pretty? To me there are a couple that look pretty good. Podium has always appealed to me, DRESSED UP reaper, logic pro could look pretty good at times. Mostly they all are really fracking generic though. Allot of blue, allot of silver and allot of grey (though I usually like the grey.)

I haven't tried Studio One, but it does look good. You really can't underestimate the value of flow. It does make a difference. In my opinion, cubase was challenging in that respect. I personally find that reaper has better flow, but, ymmv.

your right, cubase doesn't look that, good but it performs really well. i mean doesn't it? theirs some nice reaper themes for sure but, ive yet to see a reaper theme that looks like it could be the default interface for an upcoming new daw.

pretty's important, but not as important as a daw with good interface. ie workflow. i think reaper workflow isn't very good.

It's not "after paying", you know that the cheapest version doesn't allow external plugins before paying, you try to imply that they are cheating people.

You don't respect them because they offer a cheap and a free version for people that don't use plugins

...... you can't be taken seriously.

And it wasn't pricey for me, I got Producer, that is almost the full version, for less than 100€ after buying Artist during one of their sales and upgrading from it.

+1 for Studio One 2 Producer
On the cheaper side you could demo Podium , $50 it might have more for you in the midi department .

I like reaper workflow fine. It does get a bit messy with all the options. My issue.....shit don't work right. Not crashing, just dumb shit don't work right....stupid idiot little things that swell under my toenails like a fungus. Welcome, to hosts in general (5000 different computers and 80 different hosts) for me

Yes, in this thread. I think that Reaper's workflow is better than Cubase.

Yes I know, I guess you are "both" Cubase users in this thread.

I'm a Cubase user myself and I really think that neither Cubase nor Reaper have something you could call "workflow": you want to perform a task, then search the menus that are scattered everywhere, select an action, another task, another menu searching.....

That's so true in many ways. Currently, I have the reap customed to the point where "flow" isn't too bad. All FX open to a dock. Alt-d toggles between the dock (which also includes the mixer, actions, performance, fx, and the media) so it's easy to get clutter out of the way. I ditched the mousewheel "zoom" in the TCP and use +/- (which makes it easier to do mousewheel control of knobs w/o the idiotic super zooming

All tracks are record armed by simply selecting it. Since I don't have to record multiple tracks at once (just me) this is simplified and I have templates for simple things like SD, kontakt, omni, tril, rmx. Maschine is a pain the ASS in reaper.........but it's doable. My guitar stuff is templated as well (a standard with 4 guitar tracks/sim/recabinet and a buss and valhallaroom as a verb)

Hmmmmm, all I can think of now, but most bases are covered. Now.......about that midi
