I wasn't that serious about it. ;)
It's not as simple as just throwing in the already existing "time stretch algos in Kontakt". It's a lot more than some simple recoding and they want to make sure that it's done right before they implement it. You can bet they've been rewriting Maschine to have realtime elastique audio to take on Ableton Live. This would also make possible tempo automation for Maschine's scenes.
Rad!

What's never made sense to me is that their stuff is all backward compatible -yet with each version they change the plugin name and ID, such that it's not plug n play with your projects. Their handling of the Kontakt Library for each version has been piss poor too. Updates for NI are a major PITA - the absolute WORST in the industry

Yeah - I also get that impression. That NI is putting up ads about them hiring new people is a bit surprising. Either the company is going extraordinary well or lots of people have quit.

Perhaps they joined Stephan?

@1-2-Many No need for that - NI are top notch guys, and have contributed much to both plugin and hardware. You're way out of line.

The change in the plugin ID/name's basically to save you should a new version prove to have serious issues with your system; you can always open your existing projects then if the new version makes your system crash or hang.

I'll agree with the Kontakt library, though. What I'd like to see is the upgrade just adding new content, and the rest be intact.

Seems easier just to replace the dll with the earlier version. Plugin IDs should only be changed when there is version incompatabilty.
