What sort of midi effects do you use? It does allow VSTs to send midi BTW. I wouldn't use it if i couldn't use my arps :)

I've only managed to get good Electri6ity guitar arps with Lives own Arp & velocity effects tried the demos of other arps but they dont do the same thing.

If it had a million midi effects to drag in like live does I would make the move. Live also has a midi effect pitch that alows me to layer instruments the way I want. I tried all the thirdparty arp demos and worked with Studion One 2 for a month with help from the Studio One forum but had to give it up.

How does Live's arp work exactly? Just wondering how you use it :) And the midi effect pitch thing, how do you set that up? I understand if it is hard to explain but maybe the Studio One forum didn't get all the possible solutions to you. I personally don't find it all that helpful TBH, it just isn't that active or have a huge pool of expertise. Maybe KVR is better for this, especially regarding plugins.

BTW here are a bunch of VST midi effects, I need to go through them all myself, i still am looking for a good scale transpose remapper.

I can get lives pitch to transpose the guitar and also get it to ignore some keys.

The arp can be set up so that it holds the note for the length of time I want then goes back to the arp rhythm it also can be set up to change velocity when it goes back to the arp. This aall works without me taking my finger off the key or re pressing it.

Using the chord effect I can triger two notes by holding one note and that works with the pitch and arp effect. So I end up with a rytham guitar that blasts out a note when my left hand changes keys.

This works well for playing piano, synth pad, bass and guitar at the same time.

I really wanted Studio One for its lack of bugs, 64bit and similar workflow to Lives but 0 midi effects and no third party that does what I want means I have to wait and see what happens. Studio One 2 is the best DAW right now but for my workflow it's not ready.

I think most of that is possible in Studio One, either with free or paid plugins. I use W2 Harmonizer to do one-note chords locked to a scale of my choosing, I use it with arps like Catanya and Pattern Arp, but these are all paid. There is midiChords which is free/donationware.

I'm playing with midiScaleChanger from the PIZ site, and it does what I want (you need to resize the interface to get to all the controls, it confused me when I tried it before but works great once you do that). The main issue with it is there are no presets, so you have to create the scales yourself. But that is not so hard and you can learn the intervals of the scale nicely when doing it. Once set, only keys that fit the scale will sound, and in the key of your choosing.

Thanks for that info I did try all those for a long time. They work for synth arp and Bass but not for Electr6ity guitars. They work to some level but no where near the sound I get with lives.

I have to thank you for posting Kaboom75, because it got me digging into PIZ scalechanger more and I am so stoked! I am creating scales all in C and saving them, and then I can easily bring them up and transpose them to whatever key I need. I was using ToneSpace which is excellent for chords but can only handle mono scale remapping by using its Unison function, and had looked and looked for a solution and thought this one wasn't workable, but it is great and really easy too :) yay!

Cool, well Live is Live, I am wondering if you can use those midi effects in Live and rewire it to another host? I might reinstall Live if that is the case, they aren't VSTs so maybe it allows it?

So far with 2.0.5 at least i have been crash free except for one when using Melodyne. But by all means, try Cubase too, whatever works for you is the best.

i can no longer make a list of which 3rd party plugs take it down because every time it goes down it's something different and i can't pin point it.
Na, I'm on PC. I haven't every tried it on my old Macbook, not worth using up the activation really.
