When you mentioned that you dont want to turn this into a synthix vs the other synth, may I ask what the other synth is?

Pm me if you dont want to say on here, just curious is all

It's definitely different and brings a smile. It's fun to play a synth that can sound pretty different than the usual stuff. Also check Aalto, its presets won't just make you smile, but also laugh, it's crazy (and sound-wise it's my favorite "virtual analog" synth).

It sounds good, but the layer lock system is completely unintuitive and it requires an ilok... I'll never get another one of those things again, ever.

I would have got this, but can't get anything with an iloc, as all my usb ports are used by other hardware things, that say not to use a hub.
Even the cost of an ilok usb key would cost me much more due to shipping costs to here.
Simply can't get anything with ilok for now.

Yep I would love to give this a try, it sounds really interesting, just no dongles for me. Hopefully they rethink that.

The dongles a no go here too.
Judging by the audio demos it sounds good.

Ditch the dongle I say :D

I am working on a Poly Kb bank about a 1/3rd of the way thru. Still got a long way to go. :help:

Add me to the "would love some xils synths but no dongle" crowd. I like that they've taken a bit of an "alt" route with these emulations.

I'm constantly moving/traveling with my setup and have too many usb "thangs".

I live in an area where it is a good chance that at some point my computer will get stolen :-o so knowing I just need to get a new box and enter a serial # that is stored on the cloud gives me much reassurance. Plus i lose things easily, and move from computer to computer all day long. I'm just never going with a dongle solution for anything.

I love it too. I have all the XILS synths. Yeah, I suppose if you had to start with getting a dongle it kinda sucks, but it is totally worth it. I always have mine in the hub and no problems, so number of ports aren't the problem. Anyway, I think there aren't as many commercial presets available as the other XILS synths because it is newer primarily. I will say I think that XILS-Lab should've included MORE presets to begin with (don't get mad XILS, I bought all your stuff). And should give the users more free ones. Plus you have things like Diva (which I also own) that is so popular right now (and doesn't require a dongle) and this is taking a lot of the third parties' time in making presets because it has so many more users. Also, the locking layer system confuses and pisses off too many people. I have read they are doing something about that.

My top 5 in no order:

Aalto
Synthix
XILS3
PolyKBii
Diva

Just missed it (possibly because of limitations)...

to be fair, under XILS' shipping and return policy:

"Please be careful with your eLicenser or iLok : it is your license for your software, we cannot do anything for you if it gets lost or broken
We are willing, under most circumstances, based upon our relationship with you, to re-issue and authorization but we cannot provide a new dongle.

Not every company will do this, so please, keep an eye on your dongle and use it wisely."

The point is, they will help you out if this were to legitimately happen.
