Hello machamacha wrote:I purchased DIVA when it was released. As a softsynth it is very nice. The best I think
But when I jump to using some of my analog synths like an SH101 , MOnopoly , MS20 , Pro-one , CS30, System 100 , Andromeda to name a few ( or my ebbe und flut analog filter ) ....then DIVA does not sound analog to me at all.
Just play one sequence with just the SH101 and you will have to admit that DIVA sounds vey good compared to other plug ins but there still is no analog liveliness in the sounds. Owning just about any serious sofsynth audio unit running on a Ma pro 8core I still prefer to use my analog synths with a Kenton. Only when I am lazy or on the road I use DIVA or Ni , arturia, dcam, refxetc
I would say get yourself an sh101 for 500 euro. in stead of buying several sofsynths that do not nail the sound .....
Could you post a few clips of your favorite hardware synth sounds that you believe can't be done using software.
This would help me greatly.
Thanks.

I think Diva does quite good sh101 sounds, as does DCAM strobe... though I'm sure a 101 would sound alright too...!Cyforce wrote:Or wait for D16 Shiotor/Lushrob_lee wrote:+1macha wrote: I would say get yourself an sh101 for 500 euro. in stead of buying several sofsynths that do not nail the sound .....

I really like Diva - but - I think it could really do with some more modern sounding oscillators and filters, to make some more aggressive/'cutting' sounds.
I do believe this will be in the pipeline though. Pretty cool to buy something and know that it will get added to!
I also think that Diva could really do with some macro controls to allow one dial to control multiple parameters etc... (think macro controls in massive).

There are plenty that do the cutting sounds. Not that i'm saying Diva can't do those. But the thing is to have several that cover every angle._leras wrote:I really like Diva - but - I think it could really do with some more modern sounding oscillators and filters, to make some more aggressive/'cutting' sounds.

Does a Moog Slim Phatty for 799 Euros count too?macha wrote: I would say get yourself an sh101 for 500 euro. in stead of buying several sofsynths that do not nail the sound .....
I'll hopefully also get a Waldorf Pulse 2 this year (as soon as it is released).
Like i mentioned in other threads i mostly got Diva to get a proper sounding emulation of the Jupiter 8 and the Minimoog. For Moog like sounds i could use the Slim Phatty but for the Jupiter this would be less easy except a few Jupiter like sounds i made for my Blofeld soundbank.

Isn't modern sounding kinda outside the focus of Diva? That said I'll likely be pleased with any addition._leras wrote:I really like Diva - but - I think it could really do with some more modern sounding oscillators and filters, to make some more aggressive/'cutting' sounds.

I resisted DIVA for a while. I wondered if I needed another softsynth, I was feeling like I wanted to get some more hardware, I was having a hard time trying to program a replica of a favorite Little Phatty bass sound I'd programmed on my LP when I had one, etc.
So I got another Little Phatty last week and, with the synth itself on hand for reference (not just recordings of the one I owned previously), I dialed in the aforementioned Phatty bass sound so close with the DIVA demo that I can barely tell any difference, whether in a mix or playing it from the Moog's keyboard. When it comes to some other "Moogy" sounds like leads, I actually like DIVA's take on them better (more clarity and sizzle).
I was probably biased towards the Phatty if anything - it's a fun little unit overall - but I can't parlay the fact that it looks pretty and has nice-feeling wheels and knobs into a reason to keep it. I bought DIVA and the Moog is probably going back.

I know but I just dream of Massive type flexibility, ease of use and modulation - with Diva quality sound, and some more aggressive flavours.Resonator63 wrote:There are plenty that do the cutting sounds. Not that i'm saying Diva can't do those. But the thing is to have several that cover every angle._leras wrote:I really like Diva - but - I think it could really do with some more modern sounding oscillators and filters, to make some more aggressive/'cutting' sounds.

Yes, probably - though to aim so high on sound quality and deliver on multiple OSC and Filter sections is pretty amazing already.pdxindy wrote:Isn't modern sounding kinda outside the focus of Diva? Easy enough to add some edgy icing from another synth where needed. There are some amazing modular oscs and filters just waiting to be added to Diva imo!!
I still bounce back to a very early reaktor moog ensemble, no where near the creamy richness of diva - but it had some characteristics that diva doesn't do... ( i guess lofi!!)

I have other synths that sound great too, but I don't get stuck on one synth's sound.

Well, the roadmap points to some new additions at some point and I look forward to them whatever they are. One could imagine another synth of similar structure aimed at more modern sounds. I might prefer that rather than cram too much into Diva. Not sure... I suppose I want everything possible in there but still stay streamlined like it is now_leras wrote:Yes, probably - though to aim so high on sound quality and deliver on multiple OSC and Filter sections is pretty amazing already.pdxindy wrote:

But hearing something about Diva before the first beta arrived I never imagined how remarkable it would sound so whatever comes next is gonna be good!
