Hi folks,

for those interested into granular synthesis, just finished and uploaded an experimental piece entirely composed with granular synthesis, no other types of synthesis were used, 100% pure grains! (good for regularity right?)

Thanks, and hope you enjoy!

Nice! :) Love grains too. Great synthesis method.

Thanks Farley!

  Sounds a little like it could be HourGlass but there could be some other tool as well. You could get work as a sound designer for movies if you keep this up! Great piece and I'm not half way through it!

Sounds like aliens being born from cables and glass....in a thunder storm. this gets better and better!

Nice!! Very interesting, I've heard about HourGlass and read some threads about it but did not try it (I'm on Mac), sounds like a cool tool for ambient and lush drone :-)

Thanks for sharing! Following you on the Cloud, you seem to have other interesting stuff there!

Thanks mate! Coming from you, it means alot! Glad you liked.

Second piece in the same vein of the first, and once again respecting the limit of using granular synthesis only to compose it.

Enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/sleeping-on-lotus ... ranulation

I am not ditching just sharing my opinion. It does not sound like any kind of musical piece to me. Completely without sense. It is sounding like any advanced Reaktor granular synth with self playing notes. Like advanced Metaphyisical ensemble our Auralis etc.

I've listened because i was thinking that you used granular synthesis to make something musical ie some music - not sounddesign showcase.

I hope you won't get mad at me because it was not try to make you mad i am just sharing my point of view.

Good luck with your music :)

It's all cool and I'm not mad. That's why I posted in my first post 'experimental piece'. That's also why I never used the word 'music' in my posts. The goal was not to create something 'musical' or with notes or melodies, but to explore and see how far we can go into the making of textures and pure sounds with granular synthesis.

No worries, I did not try to create something musical! It's experiments :P

interesting

so a) what did you use?

b) what was the sound source?

Well tough shit mate because you've gone and created something entirely musical here.

Just checked out Porridge Of Granularity. Outstanding electroacoustics. Really beautiful sonics that alternately lurch and flow with the utmost elegance. Loads of activity going on in a ton of different timescales. The atonal melodies happening in the periphery between around 8:00 and 10:00 had me hitting pause to check they were actually in the piece! That opening gesture is boss too! The visceral drone components of this remind me of Truax's 80s work (particularly RiverRun), but your ear for contemporary arrangement and audio editing takes things to another place. Awesome.

Gonna check out Fiber Granulation and the rest of your Soundcloud after the football and will also send you a PM to one of my old granular pieces stored off Soundcloud on my old Archive.org page that I think you'll be interested in.

SOOPAH!
