I haven't bought it, because it sounded worse than my vacuum cleaner...

Its always possible to get both, if you find it desirable ?
You dont have to limit yourself to only one category.
I agree that wallet is not extendable, but well SW musical tools is by far the most affordable area to make music : Try to find a freeware real guitar
Its not unusual to find people that have, and appreciate both. Fwiw, I just do.

Well it depends if you just want an acid drop, or if you want a 303 drop. You can make many type of acid sound and fine it's cool, but if you are trying to get a 303 'like' sound then anything but a 303 will sound out of whack.LeVzi wrote:I appreciate that most of the sounds originated from analogue sources, e.g the 303, juno, JP etc, and they sound "best" on those formats.
But if I want to use similar in my work, i'm not remotely bothered if it's not 100% accurate to the hardware, provided it sounds good to my ears, i'm not interested in less than 0.2% of people who'll say
"That acid drop isn't a real Roland TB303" or
"That hoover wasn't from a Alpha Juno 2"
If the sound fits, then use it, if it's not 100% an authentic digital recreation of the hardware, then I really couldn't care less. If it fits, it's perfect.
Also, plenty of good hoovers... - but - if you make one that sounds 'nearly' like the 'original' then again it will sound a bit wrong.

Great, Another useless thread about bloody synths (Mainly).
Boring as a really bored thing
Do some blindtests and in the end who gives a flying f**k? No person's opinion will be changed or thier ears proved wrong..etc. due to foolish
pride. Oh and by the way:
Synthesizers...GAY!
Learn to play a real instrument FFS

Howard, I think you should know that I killed alot of people...
Seriously though I have nothing bad to say about synthesisers and indeed I view them as and thier users as real instruments and musicians in thier own right (I know you do not know Me or my sense of humour so the snipped bit was exactly for that reason). However all the endless threads about them is grinding me down and pulling away what little shred of sanity I have left, You know?
One could say "Well do not read them then" which is all well and good but damned I am struggling to find anything not about synthizers, bloody synthesizers around here lately...Maybe I need a break?
Peace to all synthesists, I mean you all no insult nor Ill will

Not really, a 303 clone is used to make a 303 acid sound, if it sounds good it's fine. If you want the perfect 303 sound then obviously use a 303. Same with the hoover sound. But to the untrained ear, who's going to know either way ?_leras wrote:Well it depends if you just want an acid drop, or if you want a 303 drop. (Maybe with not such a big impact as the visual version though...).
