I've been searching for something like that too. But I want something like a random/bizarre/fractal video generator.

I found this http://www.chaospro.de/download.php
Dunno how good it is. I'll test and place some infos here.

That definitely looks very cool, but I want something that responds to the music itself.

I understand. My focus is different. I want to get some "raw material" and edit my own video using these stuff.

Reaper has a Jesusonic "zoomanalyzer", puts on quite a light show.

The Jesusonic fx are available as a vst download to use outside Reaper, they might be in that package.
The only site for experimental amp sim freeware & MIDI FX: http://runbeerrun.blogspot.com

Is there an available link? I can't find one myself, I'm looking though.

OK, well I looked at Zoomanalyzer :) I'd seen that before, pretty cool but still not the solution I was looking for to create one-shot videos for YouTube.

Update on http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/

It DOES react to music, there must have been something weird happening with the audio routing internally regarding my system, I rebooted and now it is reacting to audio nicely, has plenty of visualizations, is one step, and is free. The visualizations aren't the best best best, but good enough for me, especially for free. And there is enough variety that every video won't look the same. Here is something I posted today, just fooling around with Lounge Lizard:

VJing is seen as a seperate process. Programs like Resolume exist for that :

Yeah, € 299.00 for one install vs. free just so I can post something half-way attractive on the net. Let me see... :) I'm no VJ.

IIRC, Windows Movie Maker has that (I think) and also uploads directly to YouTube.

I have V6 on my computer (Windows MOVIE Maker, right?) and I don't see anything like that, but I'm on Vista.

That site rightly says:
The website is currently in it's infancy.
It lists Ableton there, and the first item I looked at was $299

Anyhow I think I'm ok, I just wanted a basic but decent visualizer that was very simple to get something made quickly. Freemake seems to do the job for me.

Hmmm... maybe not, I wasn't sure which is why I added the "(I think)" part. At any rate Media Player does so load a song, run the visualization in media player, capture it with Jing or the Camtasia demo, upload to YT ... it's all free.

I found myself a beautiful white high gloss crack whore with a flat top skull for resting your beer on for under a grand, with handles on both her ears, from www.cheapcrackwhores.co.uk.

Definitely the cheapest crack whores in the world.

:hihi:
