A friend and I were talking this morning about doing a one day conference in Sheffield (UK) to talk about design, motivation, bringing products to market, performing with latest inventions, etc. Would probably seek to get speakers from software side, hardware side and a performer or two.

The focus would be the old & the new - breathing new life into older tech (eg software emulations), how new tech is designed & brought to market, etc. A potential tagline would be "Bleeding Edge Technology or just Bleedin' Technology"

It would be a day event, prob cost between £50-£100 for 4 sessions (1 morning, 2 afternoon, 1 evening) - a learning event, a social event, a networking event aimed at those working in studios, those in hardware & software design, performers of different musical disciplines.

Is this something that folk would be interested in? We'd be hoping to get towards 100 along to make it worthwhile to cover costs.

I'd be up for it, depending on when of course. I'm in Donny at the mo, but will be moving soon (still in the Republic though :hihi: ).

It would be useful as I've started designing/building Guitar Pedals and I'll be doing software equivalents, eventually.

Dean - Griels will be travelling from manc - you'll have to ask him if he's bought his train ticket

John - all over by 20:30 [starts at 14:00], so plenty of time to get back; and yes, £15 all in :-)

oh, and no equipments needed.. Dave says:

"While Bill Bruford and the I Monster gents will no doubt be talking sense, I'll ranting about the history of synthesis and will have some of our old toys to drool over. It's in Sheffield on 22nd May and if anyone's around it'd be great to see you there.

The idea is to take the OSCar, 2600, Odyssey, Minimoog, Four Voice, EMS AKS, Chamberlin M1 MIDI but if anyone's got a request, lemme know and I'll see what we can do"

Thanks Duncan for an excellent conference yesterday. It was also nice to meet fellow KVRers and put faces to usernames. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Many thanks to GForce (you converted me), I Monster and Bill Bruford too. All very informative.

The Vintage Synth Trump of the day is Moog Source, Keyboard is 37 Note.

Cheers,
Nigel
