Hi Simon -
I've been trolling this string for a while. I bought Iris in time before the price went up (good choice) but I'm just getting into it now.
About your annual subscription: I pay once and I'm good for a year... and it will not automatically charge again, without my permission. Correct?

Let me know and you'll make another sale.
(I hope it is *not* an automated renewal)
No of course it's not an auto renewal, after one year or 525600 minutes I'll take your name from the mailing list unless you want more, the price for the renewal will then be less than the regular price at that point in time.

It depends how large the patch collection will have become in April 2013, the price for the renewal of your subscription will definitley be less than the regular price at that point in time. I will inform all subscribers before their subscription ends.

I just recently bought Iris and it's more than fascinating, in fact: it's addictive. Coming from a visual background (Photoshop, painting) it's really "my way of talking". Only I wish I could import pictures in it like, say, Harmor can.
I have one beginner's question though: it is said that it can handle any wav file, but is that limited to a sample, or can it also take on, say, five minute files? I'm hesitant to try this out as everything might simply choke...
I have a Win7 HP64bit machine with an i7 3,4GHz processor, 8GB of Ram and a Corsair SSD as main drive. My soundcard is an Infrasonic Quartet, my DAW is Reaper.

I have loaded files in 48Khz/24 Bit which were +1hour long, but the spectral selection is limited to 60 seconds, so you can only play and loop a segment from a larger wav which is maximum 60 seconds long.

Thanks for the clarification!
Whipping out my credit card right now. :D

P.S. Can I request that you do a preset pack for those of us folks who bought the Glass & Wood Library?

Thank's - I don't have the Glass&Wood Library as I never buy presets, I prefer to make them :)

Thanks for your answer, it clarifies a lot.
I was musing on using Iris as a super filtering system, but this does not seem to work.
No problem though: even if it can't, it stays the heroin" amongst the synths. Once you try it, you're hooked. Luckily there are no further side effects, except of course lack of sleep, a possible divorce, malnutrition etc etc...

If you are looking to use the kinds of spectral editing tools for other purposes, iZotope RX2 is worth a look. Iris is based on the RX2 spectral editor.

Hey, that's interesting.
I'll check it out.
Thanks!

What distinguishes Iris is it's interactivity.

If one has to go to an external tool (of which there are plenty, including PhotoSounder), it rather negates the whole value of Iris.

I was referring to the post above mine. ErikH is already an Iris owner (so am I). He said that Iris couldn't be used as a "super filtering system" and because of its limitation of only one minute of selected/filterable content he couldn't. That's why I suggested RX2 in addition to Iris.

I own both and they both still have their place in my workflow and RX2 may be just what Erik is looking for.

And that's why I think it's sad that you have to go to an external, non-interactive tool.

Have you used RX2?
