I love AAS String Studio but all my pianos sound pretty lame, thin either in the low or high end, does anyone have the 'killer' piano patches for this cool synth? I have sampled pianos in other plugins but I'd like to use SS if I can fo rthis as RAM is less of an issue, and CPU is really low. I don't need a 'perfect' reproduction, just something that plays and sounds really nice and interesting.

EDIT: I'm expanding this for anyone with recommendations for soundbanks in general. I'm just looking to make the most of this cool instrument.

I've tried plenty in stringstudio, to no avail.
It's simply not capable of piano...although the higher notes can sound good, but no the mids, and lows. Wasted pursuit there.
Zebra does have some piano patches, that are both low on cpu, and imo the best non sampled, non physically modeled, piano patches using standard subtractive synthesis available.
Michael Kastrup has one or two freely available, as well as Polybius.
I've done two that are free as well.
The Stringstudio can't even do a real clavinet or ep sound imo. Zebra has better clavinet and ep sounds.
Stringstudios best sounds, are in realistic guitar, and basses...and other plucked string things, but it's piano's are very weak.
AAS can do good ep sounds within Tassman though, but not stringstudio...imo.
It makes okay bowed stuff though.

I don't have Zebra or I'd try that BTW. Maybe I can coax a sort of 'real' piano sound out of Lounge Lizard if I try really hard.

Samples?
Did you try the ones in Zebra yet?
They are something between but still may cause a spark of the creative.

Yeah it may be a while for that one. Even used it is pretty much out of my price range.

Cool, let me know what you think. I installed it before on my laptop but never gave it a good workout. I'll have to put it on my main machine later.

Another thing I wish I could coax out of String Studio is a believable sitar, they are some of the weakest patches in the plugin and I couldn't properly improve them.

So I tried Piano One, it is ok but I think it is still a sampled piano in some way? It uses a good chunk of RAM still too, I'd love to have a nice piano VST that was light in CPU and RAM, too bad String Studio isn't cutting it. Right now I think I'm sticking with the various pianos in Wusikstation.

Piano One also sounds a little 'under water' to me too, just not spectacular, not better than Wusikstation's and nowhere near as flexible either.

Download what is available in the AAS user library. I posted a bunch of free presets there from when I first was using it. There are lots of others too. I love String Studio! It is so expressive!

Yeah I think I've grabbed all there is from there

Also, I figured out a very rewarding combination for my sitar sound: use Sting Studio in combination with HG Electric Sitar. The two together basically take care of eachother's weakness (SS is not 'detuned' enough, and HG ES is a little too 'muddy' basically) and together the combo is very pleasing to play for me, not exactly a sitar but gives the vibe I want anyhow. I'm loving it.

I have Entangled Species from AAS. It has some cool stuff. Not much in the "realistic" type instruments, but if you want freak, quirky sounds, this will certainly fill the bill.

String Studio ~ soundbank recommendations?
