Hi
Maybe the title looks like a flame bait to you, but it ain't. The question is based on a concrete problem: My wife has fallen in love with My iPad 2 to an extent where we want to use it at the same time. Since she only uses it for browsing mail and facebook, I have offered to buy her an Android Tablet because I can get some at decent prices like about 300$. However, the answer is: "I want an apple, not some cheap plagiary", which I can get for about 600$ (iPad 2), but frankly I think that is overkill when using it for browsing only. To convince her I need all your educated reasons for choosing an Android Tablet instead of an iPad when it comes to internet browsing and communication. Amount of Apps is no issue (but I am afraid latency could have a psychological impact to the extent that it feels slower than the iPad, but this can not be solved fully at present as far as I get the status of that debate).

Also, if you have suggestions to which tablets about 400$ and below I could buy, they are very welcome.

Buy her a used iPad 1, they come cheaper as 300 USD.

Get her a Blackberry Playbook for something like $200. At half the size of an iPad it's very handy. More fashionnable than Android, since Blackberry also is a "name". Very nice device actually... Can also run (repackaged) Android apps. Facebook and email client are preinstalled.

From what I see in the uk, an iPad 'android-equivalent' tablet is pretty much the price of the apple device anyway. The cheap ones are from my experience terrible products, slow and unresponsive. If your used to an iPad, a cheap android tablet will probably feel cheap in comparison.

I think you need to treat yourself to a 3 and then get some WIST action going when she's not using your old one

Unfortunately this may very well be the truth. But I want to give it a shot anyway. No man should give in to their wife so easily...that would eventually lead to economical disaster!

An iPad 1? hmm maybe...but they ain't selling them from the stores in my country, so that would be second hand. I'd rather convince her that an android tablet can do something the iPad can't. Isn't there for instance something about flashplayers?

- The latest iPad.
- Second hand iPad.
- Android tablet.

ok in that case buy a cheap android looking more or less as ipad and put an apple sticker. you can buy an empty ipad box on ebay as well to make it look more convincing

Cool. Do you know any in the same price range that has a screen about the size of the iPad? And do they have lesser latency than Android?

Reasons for bying an Andriod Tablet instead of an iPad for net communication?
