Dime Pro is actually a very cool Rompler and it works fine...
Many of the sounds need a little tweaking though...
Loading sfz files is the bonus but Rapture works better for me...
On the subject of Z3TA+ 2....
I think that the new version is significantly better than 1.5 for so many reasons...
Easier to "drive" too

If you're on a PC running Windows - YES
If you're on a Mac using Snow Leopard or below and never plan on upgrading to Lion - YES
If you're on a Mac and using Lion and above - NO
Cakewalk products won't install on 10.7 Lion and above. The installers use PowerPC code and simply won't run. Cakewalk have buried their heads in the sand with Lion support and simply say that 'it's not supported' so don't waste your money.

Rapture is a great synth with a fantastic sound engine...GeorgeZ wrote: I'm wondering if Rapture is worth the upgrade to full from "LE" for $35?? Don't know a hell of a lot about it apart from that it was heralded at the time as the follow up to z3ta 1. Any opinions will be appreciated!
The Multi Mode is a killer feature and sfz load is a no brainer...
Rapture is very under-rated and it deserves greater recognition...

I'm so bitter about Cakewalk on this. Paid full price on both back then but their support on them for OSX had been pretty much a joke since release. And it's not like it won't run, just the installer (you can move all the files into the right place manually as "install" on 10.7)C.Bennett wrote:If you're on a PC running Windows - YES

That said, I couldn't wrap my head around using Dimension Pro beyond couple patches; the preset browser/sample loading is very tedious, plus the envelope editing is a rather fiddly by today's standard. With Rene's departure they'd be lucky to see another cent from me (for synths)...
On topic, Rapture definitely worth the money, Dim Pro I'd say think hard first. Personally it never served as rompler well enough for me. As synth it's an interesting beast though if you program the sfz.

Nothing Im saying here has not been said already.
But I'll add, or reiterate, that DimPro in itself is not bad. Its not great but not bad. I was in a similar boat as the OP when I bought it a few years back for $50, thinking that I'd buy Komplete a little while later. What ended up happening is that NI offered a crossgrade deal enabling me to crossgrade from Reaktor, so I got Komplete only a few months later, and much sooner than I thought I would. I havent used DimPro since, except when Im doodling around on my PC, since I havent installed any of the NI stuff, or anything else for that matter, on it.
And soon after, Cakewankers decided to kill support for DimPro and Rapture on Mac. So yea, Rapture and Dimpro are alright, but cakewalk probably has the worst support in the business, and I will not spend another cent on that company's products To make things worse, Cakewalk also has the worst license transfer policy in the business i.e. Transfwrs not allowed, so Im basically stuck with two products, which cakewalk refuses to update for more than a year now, even though the products actually work on Lion, and all thats actually needed is an updated installer. I mean, how lazy can one get, after taking ppl's money. If this isnt daylight robbery, I dont know what is.
So basically, I'd say that if you plan to get Komplete eventually, first figure out how long it will be. If its a few months, then wait, because there really is no comparison, Also note that NI historically does sales around summer, and the next one should start soon.

Quick question - do DimPro and Rapture still have problems with higher project samplerates or was that finally fixed by Rene?

I have Mac Lion and was able to successfully install both Rapture and Dimension LE by first installing on Leopard and then copying some of the pref files. There's a thread here somewhere on how to do that. Just to let you know it can be done.C.Bennett wrote:If you're on a PC running Windows - YES

Sorry for a little hijacking.
Quick question: So I got a serial of z3ta+ from Computer Music. I am going to be able to do the crossgrade from Cakewalk eshop?

I find Dim Pro more useful for Rompler type sounds than Sampletank, Sonik Synth, VI One, Kontakt factory library, or any of the other sound banks I've used. Most of the sounds are quite well made, given how small they are.
Wasn't aware of the sale on z3ta 2. hmmm. Oh, what's that, wallet? You have too much money?

If you don't need loops, maybe single drum samples can be of help?:3ptguitarist wrote:http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/sam ... -217833/65
btw those samples are loops. lol I could cut them into individual hits, but I'd rather find individual samples of kicks, snares, etc. Thanks anyway though!

If I didn't already have Dim Pro I would def go for at this price. The free expansion packs contain a lot of more presets useful for electronic music which I feel was missing in the regular download.jacqueslacouth wrote:Oh, and to answer the question...$37, why not? If you have the money to burn go for it, it has some useful sounds but there are definitely better around these days.
Anyone who ends up buying Dim Pro, need to check these out, as you need to download them yourself from the Cakewalk website.
Also Digital Sound Factory does some useful extension packs that often are on sale, just wait for the right moment to pick them up
