Does anybody have a super-secret source of cheap 1/4 inch jack sockets?

...and how to do so...

I have searched high and low. Even on ebay, they sell for about £1 EACH (for the flimsiest looking ones), even if you buy 10 or 20. Seems a bit excessive for 0.01p worth of plastic and metal.

Not quite but i did buy an old mixer with the sole purpose of providing parts for me. It had enough 1/4 jacks to pay for the whole mixer so the rest of the parts were essentially free. Or enough faders to pay for the whole mixer so the jacks were essentially free. Or enough potentiometers.......

You really want them to fail and go noisy after a few months? Thats what tinplate / cheap n nasty will do.

http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/connects.html - mono/stereo 49p/59p - cheap P&P ~£1.50 (check out there 'pound shop' too)

http://www.bowood-electronics.co.uk/ind ... =2&sort=1a - cheaper (mono skt 30p) but pricier shipping, though not an issue if buying in bulk.

Bought from both stores without any issues.

@jupiter8 - Yeah, I've recommended doing that myself, but I haven't chanced upon a cheap, broken mixer myself just yet :)

@GaryG - Massive thanks for that Bitsbox link - hadn't heard of them before and they have an excellent selection of 'bits' :)

I just found them by chance googling for something or other. Can't argue with 80 1N4148s for a quid. :)

Tayda sells these cheapies for $0.79 (before qty discount), which Google tells me works out to about half a pound.

Personally, I don't like this style of jack and I'd rather pay extra for Switchcraft.

I've dealt with Tayda too through their ebay auctions. No worries ordering from them either. Amazed by their shipping, a small order was something like 99cents (US), 60p? This wacky global economy we live in... :)
