For $37? I'd be on it. I never found it to be buggy on my system. If you're just looking for really good drum samples though... I'm not sure it would be your best bet. Better to buy a sample set from Goldbaby. If you're looking for a nice little swiss-army knife style instrument, it's a great little plug-in.

Are you talking about Z3TA+ 2.1? It could very well be buggy. I only spent a few hours with it so far but didn't encounter any bugs.
My mistake???

Post

I wasn't talking about zeta 2.1.

The thread title is about buying dimension pro. I had TONS of problems with mine (crashing) Glad it works for you but I'm not endorsing a product I had allot of problems with.

anyway.... DP is not a good vsti today :hihi:

Dimension Pro is fairly stable here (x86 VST on x64 WIndows) but I know there are stability problems with some particular presets - documented at Cakewalk forum.

V1.5 didn't fix these issue AFAIK, but, anyway, for $37 it's quite a good price, tons of good sounds and faily complete sound tweaking ability.

Not to mention the humoungous amount of SFZ files you can freely mix and match in your own presets.

My 2 cents...

well for the money, im inclined to agree with this bloke, and its never given me any problems whatsoever, but one computer system is definitely different from each other so you can only ever try for yourself, shame about the software not working for you - ive had some proper mileage out of mine

But that is just it. What you are saying is you must remember all the presets that DON'T crash just to be able to use it.

There is nothing wrong with the sounds, but if it's a known issue and it's been a couple of years since there was an update is it really worth it?

What's a good allround rompler/sampler at the same price with comparable sound quality?
Wusik is not on par for me, and nothing else comes out of my mind at the moment...

I'm not keen too about Cakewalk commercial and update trends lately, but it's about value for money. AFAIK, the problematic default presets are less than fingers on one hand...

Thanks,
Mario

Same here, ive bought wuzikstation just for the sound banks and the export to sfz 24bit option, so i can bundle all my sample collections and load them all into rapture and dimension pro. The pianos and strings are worth the asking price for themselves alone. A few years back this was considered a top product and was used in major scores as ive previosly mentioned at the beginning of the forum. Wuzikstation is a decent enough sampler, but i liked the EVE module better that came free with it. Anyhow, now i can use the FSZ editor and categorize all my library straight into Dimension..Good sound browser too

To be honest I can't think of anything that offers the consistent quality of Dim Pro. Sampletank is cheap but a lot of the sounds are subpar, particularly the synths. You have to wonder what they were smoking when they made them. Same for Sonik Synth, some good sounds hidden in a bunch of mediocre ones.

By contrast most of the Dim Pro patches sound like they were made by competent sound designers.

Come to think of it, most soft-romplers sound like they were created by good recordists, but crappy patch designers.

I want to invest in getting Komplete 8 someday when I get enough money, but for the time being I wouldn't mind getting something cheaper that has enough sounds for me to create music.

I have Sonar Home Studio 6XL and it comes with Dimension LE which doesn't have as many sounds and options as the Pro version. I wouldn't mind getting the pro version for $37 because it would be the upgrade price plus the 30% discount. What I want to have are more drum samples, hiphop drum samples, and more samples in general, but will the Dimension Pro satisfy that or is there some other avenue I should take?
Dimension Pro and Dimension LE are very different. I like it personally.
