Didnt realise that when I downloaded it. I have no internet at home so thats me out.
At least I wont be tempted to drop money on this now

I think the integration of a must-have internet connection will pretty much guarantee that everyone will walk away with varied results. Possibly from session to session. Seems a bit risky to hang everything on that one peg. For instance while I had similar results to you when trying to log in one time the other times were painless. And I didn't experience any slow down whatsoever while inside a project. It was as if it was all local. However, I'd like to try out the collab features at least one time to see if there's any hiccups involved.gpunk wrote:After trying this out for a while, gotta say that it is pretty much a letdown right now
Very slow (And i mean veeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrry slooooooooooooooow)
I would assume that no-internet DAW users wouldn't even look at something like this. Again, it all depends if Ohm are thinking of marketing this as a full-blown DAW solution to compete with the Big Boys, or just a niche, online-collaboration app.christianmusicmaker wrote:Another problem with online only access is ISP's and acess times. It is very likely that certain times of the day will be easier / faster than other times of the day with ISP's possibly throttling bandwidth at peak times.
Ohmforce just open a really great and promising DAW to Internet bandwidth issues. No need. Maybe a 1.5 or version 2 release can solve this problem. or as bduffy suggest a "fast and smooth" connection. It appears it has to be extremely fast to satisfy all users but that still will not solve the issue for people who still want to work offline like me.
Talk less of people who like the idea, look and feel of Ohm studio but do not connect their DAW to the Internet. They will likely step right over this promising DAW.
No. The current slowdowns are caused by our servers being overloaded, not your connection speed. We need a moment to optimize our services for heavy load, which becomes possible with this open beta.christianmusicmaker wrote:It appears it has to be extremely fast to satisfy all users
I think they would really like it to compete with the bigger DAW's out there and it appears to have a unique selling point and some fresh ideas but yes...if the expectations are not so lofty from the devs then maybe it is not so important for them (yet). They at least appear interested in the issue and are looking to at least hear and respond to suggestions. I just hope it is not too long between now and an offline version. It definitely has promise.bduffy wrote:I would assume that no-internet DAW users wouldn't even look at something like this. Cool. That will at least help with online issues.Fire Sledge - Ohm Force wrote:No. The current slowdowns are caused by our servers being overloaded, not your connection speed. Agreed. I'm rather excited about it, considering its pedigree and potential. I will be keeping a close eye on this thread...christianmusicmaker wrote:I think they would really like it to compete with the bigger DAW's out there and it appears to have a unique selling point and some fresh ideas but yes...if the expectations are not so lofty from the devs then maybe it is not so important for them (yet). Yeah I guess that's part of the point of this beta, to gauge the hit on the servers and adjust them accordingly.Fire Sledge - Ohm Force wrote:No. The current slowdowns are caused by our servers being overloaded, not your connection speed. Couldn't you just.. use it and make up your own opinion?b-pole wrote:I registered for Beta and downloaded already.
Nevertheless I am waiting for more feedback before I do the "risk".
