Thanks for the tip! I already have all of Bootsie's plugs but didn't think of using this (as it's an eq). It certainly produces some warmth. Might try it out on a valve setting.

Guitar Rig Player (free) Comes with the Jump amp and Skreamer distortion pedal (and more). Both are great for adding anywhere from gentle overdrive to heavy distortion. I abuse the Jump amp (no cabinet, low gain). It works on just about everything.

I assume you're on a PC? Definitely try some of TbT's amazing (free) classics. Saturated Driver, GreasTube and some of the compressors tend to give gritty, warm results!

(God, I miss these plugs.)

Do you know? I don't know what I'm doing sometimes, I mean I already have guitar rig pro 5. That's another great suggestion that I could have tried. I guess sometimes, with so many great plugins these days, you forget what you have! Thanks chj!

To bduffy, thanks for the heads up on your suggestions. These plugs look good! Thank you!

TLS driver is great for saturating the peaks instead of soft clipping and adds real warmth and loudness
