Good question. I don't expect you to read this thread (don't, it was painful), but here's the jest: Someone asked him if he used software instruments. He said "no, they all sound samey (the same?) and metallic." I take that to mean he didn't like the sound quality over the hardware synths he uses... or samples? Whatever. People then started attacking analog hardware synths as being obsolete. I merely suggested that his position was a valid one as they do sound a bit better than software and he's got the bucks so why not?

Then I posted a clip that I felt clearly showed Diva sounding just like a Moog Phatty... but with lower sound quality. No one would listen to it and Urs said Diva sounds better than the hardware he was emulating and then I started making fun of Germans. :clown:

Yeah, I did read the article but spared myself much of the middle of this thread.

I remember, back in the mid-80s, trying to make my analog synths sound digital.

It's better to make fun with Germans than of Germans... :? I love the Californian humor, but that wasn't half the fun... :(

But now you are the savior of the analog hardware synths, you have won against the new-fashioned softsynthie-embracing pumped-up-kids...

I won! (p.s. I'm a transplant from NJ, so you can blame all my comedy styling from high doses of dioxin in the soil and a steady stream of Bugs Bunny cartoons and Monty Python.)

Wait, don't celebrate too soon - not before we're at page 30... :o

How do you know if you're on KVR? Discussion threads mention at least one U-He product before page 6 :hihi:

Is this the Minneapolis humor??

And now the most important question: If Norman Cook would meet Diva, would he fall in love??

Urs should give him an NFR :hihi:

You nuts? Why get a cheap wannabe-software-emulation affordable by the poor when you can afford get the real deal? Image

No, that was wholly a product of citizens of the UK. I merely bear witness to their insular majesty.

Richtofen was a Nazi?

For sure, he wasn't, because he died after the World War I. But I don't get the humor of the quote, and furthermore the Germans haven't invented the war.

The Germans have invented other great things except the Blitzkrieg - for example Kraftwerk...Rammstein...Rucksack...Kindergarten...Sauerkraut...Wurstel...Hinterland...Bier... :D

And the Diva... :hihi:

I'm personally more interested what Vince Clark or someone of that calibre in synth history thinks. What about Bob Moog, did he ever say anything about soft synthesis? I wouldn't imagine he was against them.
