musicians PLAY music. sound designers design sounds. sometimes, a person can do both. sometimes not.
why is this an argument LOL? you do what you're good at...or choose to do.

who cares? as long as the end result moves you. or should we all be building our microphones, designing our own EQs and compressors as well?

some people use tools, some create tools.

Erm, Stevie Wonder had someone who worked for him purely to design the patches for him to play, did he not make any interesting music? Just sayin'...

Stevie Wonder ? as in the famously blind Stevie Wonder ?

I wondered how long it would be for someone to pick up on that, but... it still proves a point that the musician/composer does not have to have done the patch design to pull off good music...

no u just completely missed the point.
he's not too dumb to figure out how to use a synth , he's not too lazy either....he simply is blind. so it's a completely irrelevant point to what i was trying to make.
and btw not even that stops him....he was seen at namm some years ago dialing a few patches on a minmoog ( a model D without presets) like in 2 seconds ....he probably has memomrized where all the controls are and can get the sounds he needs out of it damn quick.
