after trying numerous usb-midi interfaces, and being disappointed with them. I decided to try ES-4.
I need to sequence about 3 external multi-timbral hardware synths.
but for start at least one ext. hardware synth.
So what do I need to get 16 midi channels out of cubase to korg tr-rack?
i watched the videos but still don't get it, what exactly do i need, that rac for es-4, spdif to midi etc..

You need
- an ES-4 + ES-4 Gate Expander OR ES-3 + ES-5 (ES-3 Expander)
- a case / power supply, if you don't already have a Eurorack modular
- an adaptor e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/expertslee ... 7543887181 or make your own minijack-to-DIN cable
- the Silent Way ES-4 Controller plug-in (free)

Yes, each physical port can transmit 16 channels as normal.

ok, so since gate expander has 8 ports, I can use each port to transmit 16 usual midi channels, each of the 8 ports can work as individual midi port simultaneously?os wrote:Yes, each physical port can transmit 16 channels as normal.

hopefully the last questions about my pre-purchase:
1)Since my RME Babyface soundcard has adat lightpipe i/o.
Can I use ES-3 with expander, instead of es-4 w/expander, for mult-channel-midi output?
2)Will all this work at a 16/44.1k ?
3)Where do i find Eurorack and Powersupply distributor that will ship to U.S.? (don't have any luck finding it)

1) Yes. You want ES-3 and ES-5.
2) Probably. Very few devices seem not to work at 44.1. So far everything seems to work at 48.
3) There are many places that sell this stuff in the US. E.g.
analoguehaven.com
bigcitymusic.com
memeantenna.com
foxtonemusic.com
ctrl-mod.com
