Sylenth1

Sylenth1 is extremely good. It is very simple and that is a really nice way to get back to synth basics. It's got just enough complexity to be an ideal synth to learn synthesis on. It's sound is really good, especially at 96khz.
Imo though Zebra2 sounds every bit as good and has a lot more to offer.
I think it's strength is it's great sound coupled with it's popularity (so many sound banks available it's like every sound designer has their Sylenth bank) and it's simplicity because it's limitation push you to really think, learn and experiment.
As for soundbank's there was a pretty interesting one I saw at freshlysqueezed by SunnyLax that sounded good.

However the audio demo is over-compressed for my liking, makes it hard to know what you're actually getting imo.
I am working on a new bank for it and should hopefully release it soon:

The demo is only lightly processed and has some external reverb and echos and
It will also be reasonably priced.

I used to have it, it's great, nice quality sound etc, but after a while I was sorta burned out on the supersaw and virus sorta thing, I ended up trading it for impOSCar.
Rob Lee has some real nice EDM soundbanks for it

I don't do music on MACs any more and not trying to say you don't have trouble with it but...the Sylenth Master class I referenced above in CM Dub Step issue was done using EDIT: Sylenth 32 bit on OSX Lion in Logic.fisherKing wrote:not so much about the sound, as about 'modern compatibility' (i just made that phrase up).
1. all my other plugs are now 64bit; if Logic X no longer supports 32bit plugs...i'm done.
2. even the last version, a beta, works...EXCEPT on lion and logic.
3. just looking for, at the least, compatibility. whatever strengths or weaknesses S1 has...i love it, it's my ugly GF...

there IS no 64bit AU for mac; it's 64bit on a pc, and 32bit ONLY on mac (trust me, i've been thru this with Lennard...).C-note wrote:I don't do music on MACs any more and not trying to say you don't have trouble with it but...the Sylenth Master class I referenced above in CM Dub Step issue was done using Sylenth 64 bit on OSX Lion in Logic.fisherKing wrote:not so much about the sound, as about 'modern compatibility' (i just made that phrase up).

Sylenth is fantastic. It will be nice to see a 64 bit version for the Mac, but that being said it's also not a critical update for me yet. I'm on Ableton 8.3 and no 64 bit.
In any case, I can't think of any other synth I see used by so many pro producers. Maybe Massive comes close, but it seems everyone uses Sylenth.
I love Sylenth and I'm kinda sick of hearing people complain about lack of updates.
Go make some music

I thought they had announced they will no longer be supporting or developing S1 anymore??
Or am I wrong?
P.s I would love to have a 64Bit AU Lion compatible version

^ according to Lennard you are wrong. He says it hasn't been abandoned.
And just to clarify, the beta version bug isn't only a Logic/Lion thing, I had same issue on 10.6 on Live.

Afaik the last post we got from Lennar was that it is being developed and supported and he hinted he would appreciate it if people did not spread baseless rumours.

Why? It works. Simple as that.hibidy wrote: @updates: If it hasn't been updated since 2008, that is a red flag for a buyer.
I guess if you want to future proof yourself for 128-bit operating systems, Sylenth1 might not be the best choice.

dude, the only thing i want to do is 'present-tense" proof for 64bitAU on mac (sylenth1 is only 64bit on windows)...Arglebargle wrote:Why? It works. Simple as that.hibidy wrote: @updates: If it hasn't been updated since 2008, that is a red flag for a buyer.

either way, the 32bit bridge works (often), and i continue to use (and/or misuse) S1...

I dunno what Lennard could to do Sylenth other than add features. The sound couldn't get any better, it's one of the best sounding synths of them all.
I'd love to see it updated though, with a heap more modulation options and maybe better FX (Reverb is a bit weak imo)
And skinnable legally.

Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive
