I do want to buy Ableton Live. I was waiting for version 9 to be released.

So I'm trying to find out if I should buy the 8 version now for the lower price, and later the update to 9. Will I save money?

Do they make any special price when it comes out. Or is there a better option? or another place to buy

The economy on my country is all f**ked up, there are no jobs and I'm not going to make any money with this. So this is a very serious question to me :(

Thanks!!
Wait for live 9 if money is an issue. I still think we are going to be waiting until we see bitwig (a program that is very VERY similar to live from the little bit of info that we've seen) official gets released and they have live 9 in great shape to make up for they TERRIBLE live 8 problems that we all had to deal with.

I'd wait a while after live 9 is released before buying if you are concerned with stability for performance, so they can get bugs out.
no purchase until everything goes to usb 3.0 and all hosts are 64 bit!

Get Live Lite for <£5 then.
Until then IBTL.

Another valid option is buying the current version at a discount in the KVR marketplace or over at the Ableton forum Marketplace. Buying a used copy was how I was able to get my feet wet.

Yes, please stop all piracy talk before this thread gets locked--even just casual mentions of it. Please. It's not necessary for the discussion. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the heads-up on the sale. I didn't know about it, but I can upgrade from Live 8 to Suite 8 for $116. Pretty sweet deal, I think.

The point everyone is making is that what you're doing is piracy. If you can't afford it I'm sorry, but that doesn't excuse piracy.

I can't afford a Porche, but that doesn't mean I go out and steal one.

Actually, I'm trying to BUY it! Want to change country with me? or get me a STABLE job? thanks!!!

Does anyone think we will get this cool price if we buy Live 8 now?

I don't want to hack in on you. But it's virtually impossible to try to buy something. You still didn't get the point i guess. No matter whether you're trying hard to afford something but can't, it is still piracy to use illegal copies of this software. I think robojam gave a good example. The inhibition threshold shouldn't be any smaller for software.

So if I'm TRYING to buy a Porche that entitles me to go out and steal one?

Why would I want to change country with you or find you a job? That's your responsibility, as is paying for goods and services that you use. Sorry about your situation, but whatever the problems you have it still doesn't entitle you to use pirated software.

I know, that's over 50% off. Tempting.

[To the other poster, no man wasn't born to work but most of us, if lucky enough to find a job, don't do it by choice, we do it for necessity. I don't make money with my music software either. Not preaching, just sayin'. ]

im slightly surprised that theres no difference in price upgrading from Live Intro (entry level but still costs), and Live Lite (free/bundled) version.. I though the Intro upgrade would be a touch cheaper. odd.
still looks like a nice discount though.

yeah super cool to have a 8 hour job each day and win 400 euros. everything is normal. man was born to work, of course! how could I forget that

seems like you've always been doing so and always got an excuse, though.

because you certainly seem to have had money for other stuff.
