(not caring if it had a 64bit version). Monofury also excellent.
Thanks! x64 version will come soon...

None of the plugins will benefit from extra Ram unless they load large sample sets and none will use less CPU....it's just that you will have more of it to work with.....

The opposite side of the question would be what free 32 bit plugins will you lose by going 64 bit
Big +1!
(My bolding)

I think there is a lot of obsession with the upgrade and the promise of improved 'stability and efficiency'. Im convinced that for many tool/system/user combos its just not the best choice yet.
Like really examining what that plug gets out of x64, what does your workflow lose by giving up x86 plugs?
Teksonik made a big point: Many plugins get no benefit from x64, efficiency wise. Like, none.
It depends on your workflow and fav tools, but many many many of us wont get much out of it. (I dont use Kontakt. :P)

x64 OS, x86 VST/Host!! :x
One day, that wont be the best solution, today I really see very few reasons why it isnt.

(Disclaimer: I run FLStudio which is x86 only. But, it has a 'extra memory' version of the .exe that does something funky. From what I gather it allows each plugin to be seen as its own 'thing', and thus carve out its own chunk in ram. I dont really know how it works, or if it is perhaps influencing my opinion that an x86 host on an x64 OS is the tits.)

Unless of course you do use samplers. Anyhow, my computer is old, it makes crazy metallic sounds, it will get replaced, and when I do so I will be looking forward to the next 5 years, not backwards to 32 bit stuff. Again the criteria may be arbitrary but it isn't unreasonable.

There is nothing "backwards" about 32 bit stuff. Developers are being forced to "update" their plugins to 64 bit when the vast majority of the plugins will see no benefit from going 64 bit. Perhaps the pressure to improve should be placed on the makers of Bit Bridges so using 32 bit plugins in a 64 bit environment will not be a "PITA" (your words).

Ok, you win, whatever, have fun.

There is no win or lose.I see where you are coming from. You need to update your computer and that will take you into the 64 bit realm. That's good to an extent but I don't see throwing out all the 32 bit gems in the process.......hopefully I won't have to make the same choice anytime too soon.

Syncersoft has been active of late sharing lots of free stuff so I give my vote to Analog Voice :)

Yeah I'm not saying to throw 32 bit plugs all out, just as of today, synths built for the future are what I'm wondering about. That's all, and 64 bit just happens to be a prerequisite. I just don't want to keep defending that. I get YOUR point, just try to respect my criteria without condemnation. It is perfectly valid. Legacy 32 bit stuff will get replaced by time, there is no doubt about that, and having to use a bridge just adds another layer to a system and can create instability. Sure maybe that could be solved by the DAW devs but I'm not counting on that. In two years I would rather not be using a bridge at all on a 64 bit system.

i use reaper and it seems to me that some of the 32 bit plugs crash a little bit more often now that i run them through windows seven in comparison to when i was using windows vista...

but some of them run as they did before, and some of the plugs i just dont want to get rid of... so hopefully if they dont get upgraded they will continue to run fine on 64 bits...
