Hey Guys, sorry if i posted in the wrong place, im only 10yrs old so... Which is better for producing electronic music such as Trance and Dubstep , Logic Pro 9 or Reaper. I just want your opinions. Also, if Logic pro 9 is what i should get then should i pay more for Logic Studio 9. Is logic Studio really worth getting?

Robert since it sounds you are on a Mac I'd say Logic. Both are probably equally good as DAWs for making any sort of music but the advantage of Logic is you will get a full suite of top class synths and effects with it and that alone makes it worthwhile unless you already have lots of plugins. Also one of Logic's synths, the ES2, is used a lot in trance and dubstep productions.

Between Reaper and Logic, I would choose Logic.

If you are willing to look outside the 2 you listed, I would also look at Ableton Live.

logic
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

ableton live is your best bet as far as electronic music is concerned. The interface is relatively easy to learn and there are tons of support like dvds and online courses that complement it. Skrillex and deadmau5 use ableton. But you shouldnt choose a DAW based on that statement alone. My advice would be download the demos of a couple daws try them out and see what works best for you

Except.....Logic has no demo.

So you guys are sure Logics sounds are better? Could any of you send me a link to some electronic music that you guys made with Logic?

not to promote myself but on http://www.soundcloud.com/viktorvos i did some remixes where the songs were composed in Logic first then (tried to) mix vocals under some songs.

If you want a daw that includes a lot of plugins, like synths, samplers, effects, drum machine, then Logic is the best for that. It also has a lot of audio/midi loops too.
If you want a cheaper stripped down daw, with basically no other plugins, except some really odd simple ones. Then Reaper is good.
I have Logic8 and tried the Reaper demo.

You could also try Ableton Live. They lso have Lite/Intro versions, which are free with buying M-Audio controllers or other hardware.
I think the Intro price is around 100usd.

I'd say get the Logic9, as the synths and other plugins, are excellent.
Especially if your learning synthesis. Some are very simple to use.

Are you just 10, or 10 1/2, or 10 3/4?

There is no DAW that sounds "better" than another. It's all a matter of workflow, which one has the tools you need, etc. It's a bad mindset to think that one DAW is objectively better than a different one. Try out demos for both, see which one you like better, roll with it.

Some quick advice for robertlgemmell ...

Listen to the radio, beatport, tracks by your favorite artists. You'll end up listening to music produced in Logic, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reason, Fruity Loops, etc. The skill of the producer generally defines the sound quality, not the DAW.

Pick a tool that makes sense to you after trying some demos. The DAW that you like will help you make more music. Making track after track after track should be your primary goal. You'll suck for what seems like a long time, then you'll get better.

Stop worrying about "sound quality" right now and focus on making music.

If i buy one of these programs I won't buy any extra plug-ins or vsts. So I can create great dubstep with either one of these programs ( Logic or Abelton ) alone with nothing else right?

Not actually.
If you get Logic. You do not need any other plugins (programs).
If you get Live. You will either need to buy the more expensive Suite version to get the necessary plugins, and then you will need nothing else, but it's much more expensive.
If you just by the Live basic version, you will only get a very limited amount of music creation tools, which isn't really enough, but still doable to make music with. Just a sampler and drum machine plugins, and lots of effects too.

Logic is already inexpensive in the app store. You might be able to buy ableton live suite here in the marketplace cheap. Logic's built in instruments are generally way better than ableton's. Even though my preference is ableton with 3rd party plugins, logic is really impossible to beat at $199 for a truly complete music creation studio.

I own Logic Studio 9 and believe me - it's a LEXUS. Although I use Reaper more and more as it's amazing too and supports VST's whereas Logic is strictly AU.
Now the proud owner of an avid 11 Rack, Running Pro Tools 10.3.3 - for me it's heaven!
