Most likely you will have to register, but we all have spam catcher email accounts now days, right? RIGHT?? It is an expected trade off for free software.
But if it is dongled, elicnesed or anything annoying, I'll delete and never look back. Just should not be done for a "FREE" plugin

Don't worry, i filled in a registration form to demo some of Arturia's synth, and i never got any spam/ad mail from them. They're just not like that.wwjd wrote:Most likely you will have to register, but we all have spam catcher email accounts now days, right? RIGHT?? It is an expected trade off for free software.
@ ENV1: Well, one could assume that they would do some sort of copy protection, to prevent users who downloaded the Minimoog from distributing it to others, escpecially as it is a one-day offer. But right, if a Arturia employee says it doesn't have a dongle then it probably doesn't have one.

Registering is not the worst thing in the world, and getting a few emails in exchange for this? Totally worth it in my opinion.
Would probably be good to see what they're up to from time to time anyway, particularly if this software offers an upgrade path to something else for anyone that finds it useful. I have an email account I use specifically for signing up for offers, etc. so all I get in there is emails like the ones I'd expect from this. Worth setting one up if you're concerned about filling your main email's inbox with emails you get for registering, signing up, etc.

So, what form of copy protection will this have, if there is no eLicenser? Please don't misunderstand me, I don't like copy protection and I am not complaining about not having eLicenser.Kevin [Arturia] wrote:FYI,
no eLicenser for this one.
It will be polyphonic, the only limitation is that you don't have access to the extra features (Motion Record, Vocal Filter, Modulation Matrix, Arpeggiator, FXs) but you can play the included presets that are using them.
Kevin
Since you are giving it away free, I'm not too worried about what copy protection--just curious.

Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

I'm looking forward to adding the Moog to my CS-80, Jupiter 8V, and Prophet V Arturia synths. I love their stuff and marked my schedule for the 21st.
I need more practice, not more gear.

KevinI'm just wanting to know what is going to be required. Serial, software-key only I hope?

If its free, why would it need any protection ???

Seem like this is a clever 'Player' marketing concept...Examigan wrote:I think it will still be cool without that extra stuff, and we can just use our own effects anyway. If it is something where the presets are stuck with the effects (but just not editable) then hopefully we can just switch them off, which would be ok.osiris wrote:Looks like it will be the full synth, but no back panel editing which means you can't edit chorus/delay/arp, but I think the front has switches for these.

What do you mean by "Player"? You gonna be able to control the whole thing...Rajah wrote: Seem like this is a clever 'Player' marketing concept...
Edit: Digged it out for you again:

KVRers seem desperate too looks the gift horse in the mouth!! (or are beaten cynical!)
1. It's acritically acclaimed fully working $200 VSTi for FREE
2. There is no elicencer/dongle etc….
3. Did I mention its free. Does anything else matter!
Maybe Arturia are just good guys and we should just say thank you rather looking for catches, limitations and cynical marketing rationales!
(or maybe its booby trapped to wipe all copies of diva.dll
)

Anyway, If it's a promo thing the can do what ever they like and nobody should show any disrespect regarding C/P or anything else (registration for example) as far as I am concerned. They are giving away their stuff and we should be thankful regardless.

The company don't get much praise or hype around here as far as I can tell. My assumption (yes, I know one should never assume) is that they're products are below par.
This way, we can all get a chance to really check out their wares for free.
It could be very good promotion for the company, assuming that the free product is a 'keeper'.

Steinberg doesn't get much praise here either, yet it is the most used sequencer world wide... more has to do with the usual good/evil schematics than with the quality of the products. And the fact that Arturia uses eLicenser already makes them evil.Aloysius wrote:The company don't get much praise or hype around here as far as I can tell. Wrong. Sure, they can do what they like, but doesnt mean i should be thankful or give them respect for making a FREE product use any protection....its FREE...!ZINO wrote:Why did Pod Farm, Soundtoys Radiator and Devil Loc, SPL Attacker etc, need?Kriminal wrote:audiojunkie wrote:So, what form of copy protection will this have, if there is no eLicenser?
