I do understand that there are a few different tools with which to create waveforms, but the basic premise behind this one is to make it so you don't have to do any additional rendering, editing, etc. The idea is to create a single application with which to create, edit, import and export to a variety of formats and not need to use multiple applications. I dunno about you guys/gals, but doing so is tedious and time consuming for anyone needing to do so on a regular basis.
Also, I did actually go to 2 separate developers with similar tools, but they wouldn't take my cash to update their applications with my particular features, so I chose to have it developed independently. Either way, I appreciate the amount of response and positive/negative criticism, and I understand that in the end, I'll have to do a hell of a job with this tool to make it stand out and reflect my original vision.

I just think the explanations are still to "foggy" about the processing (not converting) things this tool can do. If you can say exactly what it can do (like, for example, me and ENV1 wrote for Oatmeal) that will be most welcome.
Like I said before, cosmetics are not important. For me, the tool must have at least a few unique/new ways to mod. the scwf.

Just for example - the convolution of scwfs is a very rare function. If you implement it, you will have something that most scwf tools do not. Etc.
I do this ocasionally using formulas or fxs, but if I'd have it in a dedicated tool, with all the other interesting things, then I certainly would be much more interested.

Do you really think that people doing this on regular basis haven't got their own tools to automatize this simple tasks?rlahalla wrote:The idea is to create a single application with which to create, edit, import and export to a variety of formats and not need to use multiple applications. All those cosmetics are just to easy to program, so they cannot be something that will sold your tool. If you stick only to that story, you'll lose a big part of the market.

Are you saying that various people have written various apps like this and that they are just kept private?zorniko wrote: Do you really think that people doing this on regular basis haven't got their own tools to automatize this simple tasks?

Or are you saying that there are workflows with already available tools that are close to the convenience that this app would have?
I kind of doubt either but gwan tellit.

I think there are people who would like to be doing this on a regular basis but can't be arsed to suffer through tedious workarounds. There aren't many options.highkoo wrote:Are you saying that various people have written various apps like this and that they are just kept private?zorniko wrote: Do you really think that people doing this on regular basis haven't got their own tools to automatize this simple tasks?

Awhile ago I was desperately searching for a tool that would allow me to make and export wave cycles of exactly 10hz/.1 seconds long and I exhausted myself looking for something suitable. This matlab script looks real nice but unfortunately its for matlab.

Hi,
This looks really interesting to me and I would like to get in on the pre-order
price. However, I am on a Mac and was wondering if you have an idea how soon
it would be available after the PC version. I would also be more than happy to
help beta test it for you (I was on the MixControl team) if that would be useful.
Cheers,
Scott

I think this is false, IMO. Maybe you have not done this process to the extent that I have, but there really are no tools to automate this particular task, and if there were, I wouldn't be doing this. I do sound design and music production for a full time living and have made hundreds and thousands of these waveforms in the most efficient manner possible, which isn't all that efficient. When creating soundsets and libraries that require multiple programs, time is an extremely important thing. Well, it's an important thing anyways, but moreso when you equate time with money.zorniko wrote:Do you really think that people doing this on regular basis haven't got their own tools to automatize this simple tasks?

This is a minus talk.rlahalla wrote:Maybe you have not done this process to the extent that I have
You really don't need this kind of arguments.
But what task, please?rlahalla wrote: but there really are no tools to automate this particular task,
Exporting 1 scwf to alchemy or zebra format?
Or batch convert?
Btw, many of my questions remained unanswered.
Well, will miedex be able to do it with this tool?miedex wrote: Awhile ago I was desperately searching for a tool that would allow me to make and export wave cycles of exactly 10hz/.1 seconds long and I exhausted myself looking for something suitable.
Does it going to have adjustable time/number of samples/frequency?
Cheers

Obviously, some serious/professional questions are kept unanswered.
The answers are being avoided, and I really don't like this untransparency and fog.
So, from what I saw / read I'll answer to myself:
WD can use formulas, and includes envs and filter.
And thats all?!
[And mind you, complex or simple formulas?
Pre-programmed or free for input?
One stage or multi-stage?
Language complexity for a common user?
All of this can make a HUGE difference]
Feature requests and suggested formats?
MANY - and I'm sorry but I'll repeat - MANY of them.
The site / topic is just FULL.
And just another advice, before I leave this fog (for now): It's a way easier and cheeper to learn programming, than paying a big money to someone who will implement your simple tasks.
Good luck with this.
As you've said, the time is what counts, and I already lost a lot of it in this topic
So, I just realized that you got more than my 30$, and that I didn't got anything

I wasn't trying to talk down to you, and I apologize if it came off that way.zorniko wrote:This is a minus talk.rlahalla wrote:Maybe you have not done this process to the extent that I have

My father is home for the weekend, and he has Altzheimer's. I am caring for him, answering support requests and trying to get work done all at the same time, because Steven is off for a few days. I will answer when I have time, but from the very beginning, I've made it clear that this is a project that is going to take time to complete. If you pre-ordered, I'll refund your money.zorniko wrote:Obviously, some serious/professional questions are kept unanswered.

Seriously, you're entirely right.dalor wrote:Note to myself: Never talk in public about development.

Again, it is not finished yet. The entire point behind this project was to determine the applications features. Because of the overwhelming number of suggestions presented in this thread, I presented this offer. I made it very clear, not only in this thread, but on the web page, that the initial version will be very basic, and as time goes on, I will add new features based on what people want. This is the point of the project.zorniko wrote:I just think the explanations are still to "foggy" about the processing (not converting) things this tool can do. It is not actually easier and cheaper to learn programming, as I have (a) horrible health myself, (b) family with horrible health I need to care for and (c) nearly no time to even pee. Maybe time is free for you, but it is not for me. You should think about other people's circumstances before making such sweeping generalizations.zorniko wrote:And just another advice, before I leave this fog (for now): It's a way easier and cheeper to learn programming, than paying a big money to someone who will implement your simple tasks.
Please just send me your e-mail address and full name and I am going to send you your money back. You started off this discussion being so helpful and easy to talk to, and ended up going so far out of your way to misunderstand me and then berate me for something that I thought would be cool to do with people who would enjoy it. Please, just leave me alone now.zorniko wrote:Good luck with this.

yes people, take some time,it's a bit of a experiment but a nice one,
there isn't any single cycle creating tool i'm aware of and why should i be interested to know that somebody on this earth write his own tools?
good for him...or not,who cares?
teamdnr is known for working hard,i have no doubt they are creating something usable.
otherwise suggestions are important as well.
btw, i like the kitten thread as long it is keeping up the good mood.
