No problem with a serial number/key file or registration here since it is a one time giveaway and not free to redistribute forever. I'm more worried about getting the files before the servers melt down.....audiothing wrote:I don't see problems of having a free product with a serial/key/something. Anyway, one example could be the Factory Selection for Kontakt Player:

It's free but they send you a serial number to authorize it.

Of course I get your point...It does not need copy protection.Kriminal wrote:I still dont get why everyone is talking about copy protection...the product is FREE, why does it need it???
But the fact, that it's free, doesn't mean, that you won't have to register.
I remember several companies doing that.
All the best.

The point is that it's free for one day only. If it was free from that day on to the future then no it wouldn't need any copy protection. The only way they can keep it a "one day only" giveaway is to require the copies downloaded on that day to have some CP. Otherwise people would distribute it over and over on the net far beyond the one day. I'd prefer it have no CP and Arturia make it free forever but obviously they have their reasons for doing it this way and those reasons may involve contractual agreements with Moog......Roger-S. wrote:Of course I get your point...It does not need copy protection.Kriminal wrote:I still dont get why everyone is talking about copy protection...the product is FREE, why does it need it???

It's a "Limited Edition" somewhat crippled version. I'm sure it won't be available after that day.....but you might still be able to purchase the full version or some incarnation of it in the future.Kriminal wrote:What sane company would give a product away free one day and make you pay the next?
Im guessing it wont be available at all after that day.
