In your way of thinking; Don't buy any music software because you don't know if it's going to run at all on your future OS of choice.
Anything you ever buy involves an element of risk...

...but it makes a lot of sense to spread that risk a little

(the gamblers that don't do that are the ones that always end up broke).

Can you please read correctly? You seems not to understand the difference.
And I like to add the most of the developers are human enough to give you at least two OS version of their product.
Risk spread obtained as headquest points out.

I don't get Word 2011 for Mac because I bought I Word 2007 for Windows.
Even the entire Adobe Creative Suite, your license is either Windows or Mac - the Windows serial keys wouldn't even work if you had a Mac install disc.
My entire collection of iOS apps, not even possible to get them all on Android.

I've taken the time to compare the RM-1 to some other ring modulators and I must say, I do understand his move. :)

The Synapse Audio plugins are really good actually. I too thought they were pricey at first, but the algorithms are really good making price fair for the quality you get.

I even thought they were the same effects that come bundled with Orion at first. But they're not.

They are no fader groups in Reason. A work around is to route the tracks into a 14:2 mixer and then connect that into the Main mixer.

I will compare the Synapse Chorus to the widely acclaimed Valhalla one, to see how it stacks up!

Also, with retouchlink, I'm guessing it should also be possible to use my maschine. Possibly they even work quite well together, though at this time I only see myself buying one or the other.
Also, how easy would it be to create custom maps for RE's on both. There isnt much info out there that I could find, so any help or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Didn't get a response to this, so I thought I'll post it again, in case it was completely overlooked. Any word on this would be immensely helpful, thanks.

Well, plugins do work in both OS when the developer is capable of doing so, and Word processors are not in the same context as the plugins. Would you by 15 word processors? We can talk then about ice cream, coffe, prescriptions, furniture etc. but here the issue is very real:

You buy and they keep it. PERIOD!!!

Stick around or loose your investment.

You must buy again at not discount price even if you already have it.

The Developers can not be loyal to their original clients giving them a brake, they are not in charge, they never will!

AND who the hell is putting this in writing that Rewire is going to be accessible forever. Who?

Word 2007.....

For me that just looks like way too risky an investment.
+1

Love the idea with Re but I cannot commit to a permanent investment in Re. That is too much to ask for a format that has only just launched especially after seeing what happened to Record as a product. :scared:
Too much for ANY format.
Are we going backward? Either the PH think we are loosing our common sense or they are delusional in some way.
How many of you have the the right mind to buy into something that is not really yours....
Use it (with us) or you loose it policy.

I have a lot of music in Reason but now I see that the future may be more difficult than it seems because they may slowly change the little rights that you bought into it long ago.

Serial>Dongle for Record only>dongle for Reason>Internet only access (and it's just the beginning)>Non resell agreement>next?
The more we invest in the RE the more negotiation power they will achieve.

It's only matter of time and brainless marketing response.
Take your pick.
At first I was excited about this RE store. But the prices are unjustifiably high. No cross grade pricing incentives, NFR nonsense, and online only activation are serious enough issues for me to think about ditching reason period.

I downloaded the freebies, the LFO device is a joke. We have LFOs coming out of our ears already in every CV synth that exists. The saturator is nice though quite silly with one knob. TBH I feel like many of these REs are a joke, the prices especially so, with a few exceptions. Fxpansion being one, but I was getting messages that my computer was too slow (right... I have a quad core QX6800) even playing with etch red. I was not doing anything CPU intensive, simply playing some audio and running etch as an insert FFS.

This coupled with not a whole lot of REAL innovation plus the previous serious issues mean I'm very much 180 my opinion.

I'm going to keep my copy of reason for now, but if things don't improve I'm out ad someone who doesn't have tons of plugs and several other DAWs besides can have fun with it.

Shame because I was really hoping for more and for less.. If the revenue share split is 60/40 that's why prices are exorbitant! I was thinking they would have started at around 25/75 but AFAIK 60/40 is what I heard and that's total bullshit.

Richard I love you man, and your REs are great but I can't justify paying the asking prices. Instead I'll buy your VSTs.

Miffed and saddened, me.
