Reason is a bit of a mixed bag. Many of the presets are still built around ancient devices like the Subtractor. Also, there's no dedicated FM synth in Reason.

Personally I think Subtractor still sounds good. The strength of Reason comes from building combinators with it. A good instrument never gets dated.

But yeah U-he will be on board soon.

phhhtttt... subtractor isn't that great, it's a bit wooly sounding. It was just about ok when it came out, what 10 years ago..?

For synths and sounds, NI komplete is *by far* the better option. You will need a DAW though, which you wouldn't with Reason...

As for Uhe and third party plug in reaktor.. big deal, these have been available in cubase etc for years... afaik nothing exclusive is going to Reason...
