You can try the demo standalone for free. Download the latest Rewire drivers from Propellerheads, launch your host, making sure to create an aux with rewire inputs, then launch Bidule.
Bidule will launch with a Rewire template set up. Now just create "bidules" of your plug-ins and synths. Cable them together, and cable that chains outputs to the Rewire ports.

You have to cable everything together, and if this is new to you it may be confusing at first, which is why I said Bidule has a fairly steep learning curve. It's completely modular, and you have to create everything; but the advantage is it's really stable and uses extremely low resources because nothing is "built" or running in the background you didn't create.
To play your hosted plug-ins and synth bidule chains from your host, create an external MIDI track in your host and point it to that chain in Bidule. (just like playing a synth in Reason from your host while Reason is running in rewire)

Also, I should note a really neat thing about hosting plug-ins in Bidule is there is a really powerful parameter linking function built in. You can link any parameter of a plug-in to another plug-ins parameter. Cool stuff!

Well that Cableguys one is an effect (just checked the demo, definitely a cool tool!) and it works just fine when set up right.braj wrote:Well any midi effects are out because Studio One can't use them. So they have to be VSTi not VST effects.
Quickie HowTo:
Load any instrument / DragDrop MIDIShaper onto instruments bus channel
Instrument Track 1 (AutoCreated): Input Keyboard / Output Instrument
Instrument Track 2 (Create Manually): Input MIDIShaper / Output Instrument
Record-arm both tracks: Keyboard plays instrument / MIDIShaper sends modulations to instrument
Or wasnt that what you meant?

You are doing that in Studio One? It doesn't even appear in my plugin list.ENV1 wrote:Well that Cableguys one is an effect (just checked the demo, definitely a cool tool!) and it works just fine when set up right.braj wrote:Well any midi effects are out because Studio One can't use them. @ Env1; does that method give "note-on" triggering to the midishaper from your keyboard? One of the important things about midishaper and fully integrating it with a synth is that midi note re-triggering option... otherwise it's just a static LFO running constantly, and you can't utilise the envelopes or treat the waveforms as such. It's reason why the AU version is bullocks...

OK, I checked on my laptop and could get the MidiShaper to load, I'll have to figure out what is wrong in my DAW, I do not believe it is in the blacklist.

This will allow you to use midi effects (aka mfx).
Wonder whether my advice worth a penny? Check my music at Soundcloud and decide for yourself.

Wrap the midi VST effects with something like EnergyXT VSTi ?braj wrote:Nah, it is a limitation of the DAW itself, it doesn't support midi plugin effects, it supports VSTi that SEND midi out, so I can use VSTi arps and stuff, happily the pizMidi stuff all works beautifully, but this is just simply not part of its capabilities unfortunately.V'ger wrote:Surely something you've missed as that seems too unlikely. I know some DAWs are weird when it comes to MIDI plugins like FL where I think they have to be loaded in the mixer (!) first before you can send its data to a plugin (after manual routing), so check the manual if it's something similar.braj wrote:Well any midi effects are out because Studio One can't use them.

Happy to let you know that we'll release a new beta version next week - it can receive MIDI not only directly from the host sequencer (which AU does not allow), but also via MIDI ports, so its LFOs can get retriggered with the AU version as well.Funk Dracula wrote:Cableguys Midishaper
4 LFO's, 10 custom drawable waveshapes to source from, envelope controlled, the three usual destinations and 6 assignable CC destinations per LFO. 30 bucks. This is really easy to set up, and the design is great; home run for the Cableguys. Cheapest and most user friendly LFO plug-in out there IMO.
..
Midishaper doesn't really work as an AU. You can't gate the LFO's to re-trigger with note on/note off, but you can with the VST version.
It will also allow you to define MIDI channels for input and output and to limit its LFO-triggering to a single note.
And we've added a snap-to-grid function to MidiShaper's waveform editor.

That single note triggering sounds super convenient, saves the trouble of setting up much more complex routing/note filtering to make that happen. One could use it like key-switching, very performance orientated with an instrument, which is what makes your plug-in so well thought out and different than merely "automating" these things.
Talk about making an already awesome plug-in even better!
I hear the AU format is a bit of a challenge for developers, especially for hosts like Logic. Great job guys.

Just this post from me as setting up MidiShaper has been discussed before here..: I've just uploaded a comprehensive tutorial on setting up MidiShaper in Logic. It's definitely trickier than in most other host sequencers and definitely provides some pitfalls. The tutorials shows what can be done and which limitations and flaws Logic provides.
http://www.cableguys.de/midi-shaper-logic.html
If you succeed, you'll get super-flexible LFOs added to your favorite hardware devices, to Logic's controls and to your software synthesizers and effects.
This does not include MIDI triggering in Logic yet (beta for that will start tomorrow).
To not further fill this thread with MidiShaper-stuff, I've just started this thread on setting up MidiShaper:

The new beta version, including the single note LFO-triggering, is available now for download. Let us know, what you think about it, also check this thread:Funk Dracula wrote:That is great news Jakob!Jakob / Cableguys wrote:
