Silent note glides in Tau2/Pro?

At the risk of stirring up trouble, I'm trying to recreate on Tau2 or Tau Pro a sequence I made in a 303-emulation product made by an alternative vendor.
The sequence I've got is as follows:
Position 1: Note, no slide.
Position 2: No note, slide enabled.
Position 3: Note.
On the other emulation I'm using, this setup triggers the filter envelope at position two which then slides into the note at position 3.
I don't see a way of recreating this behaviour in Tau2/Tau Pro. The only way to get a glide going into position 3 is to use a non-zero velocity note at position 2. Unfortunately, because Tau2 isn't velocity sensitive, this means that I always trigger a full-on note a position 2, which is an undesirable effect (in this particular sequence).
I've tried using MIDI volume to simply drop out position2, but I end up with clicks as the volume goes from 0 to (say) 100 and back.
Is there any clever way of achieving this? I have no idea whether it was something you could do with an original 303, but it certainly sounded good in the pattern I had.
Steve.

Not sure if I've got this clear in my head: in position 2 you have no note, but slide is active.
What is the exact effect that this has on the note played in position 3? you say it triggers the filter envelope (and presumably then by the time the note actually plays, the attack portion has been lost). Is the pitch or amplitude envelope affected at all?
I'll fire up the 303 and see if I can find out what the real thing does.
Regards
Dave

OK - I've fiddled a bit with the 303 and I can't really detect any difference on the sound of the note in position three when a slide is placed into an (empty) position two.
Hope this helps

Dave - thanks for checking it out.
Maybe it's a feature of this particular emulator (Rebirth of course), but I've got a simple test scenario:
Position 1: top C, up, note off
Position 2: low C, down, note on
All other positions are set to no note
Set cutoff at max, Res at max, Env mod at max, Decay at min, so you get a really obvious filter attack on the first note.
Toggling position 1's slide between on & off results in a markedly different sound at position two.
It's probably just a quirk of Rebirth, I don't have a 303 to compare it to - it hasn't stopped me from putting my money down for Tau Pro!
Thanks again,
Steve.

I'll see if I can recreate that exact pattern on the 303 and do a comparison. Must have a copy of Rebirth knocking around here somewhere...
