I like the look and a few cool functions. But the most important thing in Live to me was left out apparently - racks. Not just for instrument layering but mainly for assignable macros per channel, keeps performance controls nice and organized and works flawlessly with hardware like the APC40. I could never go back from that type of functionality.

Device nesting lets you apparently group together effects and nest them within each other signal path (like filter within delay feedback, which is cool!), but it doesn't mention anything about layering instruments, nor anything about assignable macros, which to me is the bigger deal. To come close to the ease of hardware control in Ableton, you really need easy ways assigning macros and automatically mapping to hardware (for selected track etc.)5Lives wrote:I think their website has always said they have device nesting and you can save those. I would imagine this works just like Live's racks.

personally id be quite surprised if there wasnt some kind of rack-like feature, even more so if it wasnt an improvement over whats currently available in live
time will very shortly tell
hopefully the beta testers wont be prohibited from talking about features in the NDA {considering theyre already being so public about the beta with screencasts etc id be surprised by that too. it would be a missed promo opportunity}

Bitwig LOOKS interesting...but I think I would worry about doing business with a young and small company. Also, some of the developers are rather young. I just wonder if they have a real leader to lead them into legitimacy. My two cents...please don't send any
lol.
