Some people are having problems accessing the forum while others are having problems running reason without the dongle with internet verification.

see you can use reason without the dongle if you choose "internet verification" without the dongle. People are having both issues but not at the same time and not the same thing.

The issues are mainly with getting the program registered on the dongle. Make sure to uninstall Reason 6 and the Authorization stuff before installing 6.5. Also clear the cache in your browser. I had trouble with FireFox but things finally worked with google chrome. Basically just keep mashing the keyboard until something interesting happens.

That's the next step in the dongle saga. "I can't log into the forum." "Is your dongle updated with the new forum license?"
Haha... Seriously, I think PHead need to sort this out.
Just bought REASON 6 from guitar center..Installed with a minus zero problem...then updated to 6.5 with less then minus zero problem.

LOL you guys make it seem like the entire network is down .Is this your first day on the Internet ?

P.s : updating to 6.5 was weird.. WHy ? Because you have to remove you factory sound banks into a NEW folder..then uninstall reason 6...then once 6.5 is installed, move your soundbank back into it's original folder.

But I'm all smiles ...this is a bad A$$ Recording software. ;-)

The sound banks weren't the issue. Competing versions of the Authorizer software in the browser cache apparently were, and it's confusing when you're not expecting it. Glad the install went well for you! Reason is indeed a blast and some of the RE's are interesting, although I really don't see any I have to have. Got enough beats, beeps -n blaats to last a lifetime already, but that's me.

A dedicated noise gate would be nice, one that we can drop in (easily) after the effects on a guitar track. I'd pay a small fee for that.

As it is, while some of the prices are quite nice, others make me think this is all payback for the 'pay what you like' deal we had for 6.0!

Are you not using the noise gate on the audio tracks in the mixer? I use a Line 6 HD 500 so I get the additional gate before Reason but really think the internal gate is solid.

I like the gate also

Since 6.5 and RE's were announced, two threads out of three here at KVR always seem to have the same people being its greatest critics, yet they seem to keep coming to every discussion involving 6.5/RE's.

I think that they secretly are in love with 6.5/RE's but just can't admit it to themselves. :D

are you from propellerhead also?
No, actually I'm not from Propellerhead. I do asset property management as my main career, and I'm also on the opposite side of the planet. Of course I only post in Reason-related threads - it's my main tool - and that's my point: I don't waste my time going into threads discussing the latest VST, Logic, FL Studio, Pro Tools, or whatever your poison is - and go on and on and on in an almost religious methodical way and try to detract/derail or bash the product.

Could care less about those - why lurk their threads and detract/derail and bash?

Just curious...

If only the explanation were that simple.

It does seem like some people have it out for certain software on forums. Never understood that. Never understood fanboys either. Fanboy meaning.. no matter how many problems a software will have.. they argue with people complaining about said problems.. But yea.. never liked too much negativity either.

That said

I LOVE Reason and most other hosts out there, each one gets a gripe or 5 from me but its all good.

Griping about real problems you are having with software you paid good money for and just bitching about software you have not bought or even used much are two different things. depends though..

I think a lot of people have high hopes for software and want it to work to their specs and when it is released and doesn't meet up to their specs they get a little angry sometimes.

In the end.. most of us would like to just focus on making music(and post on forums instead of making music like me) and not have any stops during creative moments.
