I just found a thread at Gearslutz where Dennis from Arturia states:
" At this time Facebook is the only solution to get the free Minimoog V Original. "
So,it looks like Facebook was actually the only way to get it after a certain time, or are you guys going to say Dennis is talking rubbish and we could still get it from the Arturia site without Facebook if we'd just tried a little harder ?

Well some people have said that's what they did but tbh I don't think it matters. I couldn't get through myself so used Facebook. Facebook was their backup, obviously if the servers eventually failed completely it probably did become the main method or even the only one apart from maybe a few who used the email address they provided here, but they did that to ensure people could still get it. Seems pretty sensible really - if you have such high demand, one place that is good at handling such demand levels is Facebook, plus they had systems in place to automate gathering the information needed to forward the activation information (ie the "like" system). That doesn't mean it was the only solution they offered at all, which is what some people seem to be claiming - what it means is out of the several solutions they offered the main one failed after some time (and failed due to meeting the needs of maybe tens of thousands) but the backup didn't and neither did the torrents for downloading the actual programme files.Acid Mitch wrote:I just found a thread at Gearslutz where Dennis from Arturia states:

Maybe if something fails unexpectedly - like technology in this case - that they could extend the offer to a couple of days.aMUSEd wrote: What do you expect them to do - buy more servers just for a freebie release? They clearly did their best to anticipate demand, they had several backup plans in place, torrents and the Facebook account. It seems to have worked fine for most of us, they even had a thread here and an email to contact. And it wasn't a "fake" freebie - they needed an automated system to identify people who wanted it - the "like" system is one built into Facebook, it's not like it costs anyone anything. I think they have handled this pretty well overall and deserve nothing but gratitude.
Due to the buzz they created I check out Arturias site and found they now extended Analog Experience with a number of free instruments depending on product you buy.
I checked it out in April and you needed to buy the separate synths to be able to in depth editing of patches you found. It became rediculous money that way - no order.
Now I've got four free instruments to choose from eight, and I couldn't be happier. €429 and you get a 61 key midi keyboard, really clever selection process of patches you want to find, and in depth , on the spot editing of four of these synths in patch collection.

It sure seemed like it was the only solution for some people.aMUSEd wrote: That doesn't mean it was the only solution they offered at all, which is what some people seem to be claiming - what it means is out of the several solutions they offered the main one failed after some time (and failed due to meeting the needs of maybe tens of thousands) but the backup didn't and neither did the torrents for downloading the actual programme files.
In the same thread I quoted Dennis from above ,someone asks :
"What about for people who don't want to use Facebook (like me)? Will we have another opportunity to register via Arturia directly? "
And the reply was:
"I'm not sure...but I don't think so (it's midnight now and I'm not at the office...!). We definitely tried to find a system that could allow the anti-facebook ones to take part to the offer.
But as you saw we had to step back for technical reasons."
So, the offer was held open an extra 8 hours for Facebook users but no hints about how to register at the Arturia site and to me , it sure does seem like Dennis is saying "you cant register without Facebook for technical reasons" .
Even if some people used the Torrents or other methods to get the installer, they still wouldn't be able to get a serial, or so it seems.

Perhaps - but maybe there are contractual reasons why they couldn't do that. dunno but it seems their contract with Moog is over. I'm only really arguing against people saying it was some sort of scam or fake - I think that is ridiculous. I'm not saying they got it perfect or couldn't have done some things differently but I think they did try to do their best to get it out to as many people as possible.

I'm sure you are right about that.aMUSEd wrote: I'm not saying they got it perfect or couldn't have done some things differently but I think they did try to do their best to get it out to as many people as possible.
Just read that triumph1 got it now.
That shows how serious they are.
I've been in contact once with Arturia through mail - and they answered everything I wanted to know in very detail.
Good people one likes to support.
So I felt no hesitation ordering stuff today.

The DL speed was quite slow at first - but it improved and came down eventually.

got it after the overly annoying process.
For their permanent FREE ADVERTISING, would have been cool if they released it TOTALLY FREE: make the reg code ARTURIA.COM, and in the fine print say, "we no longer own this software and you can distribute it to anyone in anyway possible.
Then it would get copied, spread like crazy from here on out and everyone would get this FREE ADVERTISMENT installed, and it would keep cloning itself (more free advertising) forever in the future.
But now it is limited only to those that fought for a number.
Oh well. GREAT FREEBIE!

This occurred to me too and when you think about it, it makes sense.aMUSEd wrote:...but maybe there are contractual reasons why they couldn't do that. dunno but it seems their contract with Moog is over. MOOG: "You can't use our name on your products after the 21st June. Contract over."
ARTURIA: "Sure, no problemo. Then you won't mind if we give away a few to commemorate our partnership."
MOOG: "I guess that's okay... But just for one day."
ARTURIA: "OK then... One day it is. Cheers!"
MOOG: "Cheers guys, and good luck to you."
ARTURIA: "Good luck to you too... Nice doing business with you."
Followed by some smiles and handshakes.
