Not necessarily. VSTs are supported in OSX, they just have to be written specifically for that platform (they are .vst files not .dll). It's nice when DAWs support both AUs and VSTs (like Ableton Live, Presonus Studio One and Reaper) because some devs only develop for one or the other. It's not a deal breaker if Bitwig only supports VST.

@ Justin - Thank you for the reply. I'm a logic user, and I have yet to run across a plugin that I use that was only VST. Not saying they are out there, but it seems to be rare based on the number of plugins I have purchased over the recent years (bunches). Based on this I only have checked the AU box upon installation, and use them exclusively. Maybe I'm SOL, yet both AU/VST support seems to be the rule with most plugin developers?
