yesterday I installed Geist Lite from BEAT Magazine and while I can't say it totally clicked with me, I found it interesting.
Out of curiosity, can somebody elaborate what the differences are between Geist Lite and the Full Version of Geist ?
I did not find a chart of the FXpansion website showing the differences.

Geist Lite is actually the full version and the grayed out boxes are the features you can't use with the Lite version. Also, you get a ton more kits loops and such. I think you even get Guru stuff for Geist. I'm loving GL.

off the top of my head
only one of the 8 'engines'
not as many FX, no high end reverb (Breverb?)
Only stereo Out to DAWS
No song/scene mode
smaller library
(edit)
heres a comparison between GeistCM and the full version, which is AFAIK identical.

thank you
What is meant by 'engines' ? I thought it can only do samples, have not looked into it much so far.
I only need it to make drumloops with samples of my own library and use the nice features to automate parameters within such a drumloop for each drumsample.
So I guess I really can do without the features of the full version it seems.
What I found not so clever is that one has to change to the eraser tool when erasing a step in the sequence ? is there a quicker way ? a special double-click-combination maybe or such ?

An engine is pretty much 1 'bank' of the 16 pads, with its own patterns + fx.darsho wrote:thank you

if its just simple loops you are after and not creating an entire 'song' you will be fine.
there is a specific Midi note key that you can hold that works as the eraser, and another for note repeat. Geist uses a specific Midi mapping that is described in detail in the manual (p10?), I highly recommend you to read this page. you can download it from the Fxpansion website if it isnt already installed.

Tried to use Geist Lite on a 10.7 Mac in Reaper x64.
Crashed all the time, unusable.
I see from the dates in the download section that Geist Lite is outdated, the 'full' Geist seems to get some serious attention though.

Yes, on FL piano roll the very top two notes are Repeat and Erase.
