looks real cool, but $179
Turnado is outstanding.
I agree that it's very expensive but when I picked it up last week on the market place, it was much cheaper.

So the moment it's invented it no longer meets his requirements, that's quite the paradox, he may be waiting for a trans-dimensional plugin.
or a flux capacitor.

No no, he wants something that hasn't been invented and is easy to use AND is inexpensive :hihi:

What I reach for when I want something different:

SoundToys Tremolator or Crystallizer
Valhalla Freq Echo, Shimmer or Ubermod
DMG PitchFunk
Absynth FX
Reaktor FX
FabFilter Saturn

and, something I don't think has been mentioned, and very affordable as well:

Expert Sleepers CrossFade Loop Synth/FX... yeah, it's a mouthful to say but I've had some pretty stunning results from this over the years... I play with the controls while recording to audio . Their Augustus Loop is another fave of mine.

Could always try some outboard hardware racks or stomp boxes... many of them aren't much more than plugins, especially if you go used. I keep a Biscuit, TimeLine, Moog Ringmod and Sherman Filterbank on my sends for good times.

Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Imperfection is beauty.

Normally I hate adds, but not at KVR, look at all the the toys I can get.

Turnado by sugar-bytes covers very broad ground and can do literally hundreds of nifty effects.

With those two effects you can really make some kickass stuff out of usual synth-sounds.

I found a new interesting modulation in Waves Enigma yesterday. Browsing the presets makes me wanting to explore this further. Some really weird stuff in there. It's in the $60 region.

If you want something really different, why not try something really different.

Like not using a plug-in to treat the sound.

Maybe routing your synth to a speaker and putting a mike in a tube and creating a "natural" flange.
Those plastic tubes that they run electric cables down that are ribbed give you an incredible flange effect and the resonance is a function of its length. Cut it a bit shorter to record to the other channel and the "effect" gets amazing.

Any long tubes, pipes, rolled up sheets of paper all work.
And it doesn't sound like everyone else because no one else has done it your way

An amp with a torn speaker cone was the original "fuzz-box".

It's fun to record a solo track from any speaker in a confined resonant space ( or in any space for that matter) can give you something to add in to double up or thicken the sound or give it a space.

It can be fun, what can you lose except a bit of time.
But it could set you off on a road of experimentation that freshens things up a bit.

Back to plug-ins to end with, GRM Tools can when you explore them a bit and get them under control can give some VERY different sounding effects. Try tuning the resonances to the key of the song. Try tuning the delays to the tempo and things start dancing that didn't before.

ducter is on point. Seems like someone else in here believes in using your imagination and creativity to make effects ;)
