Plug + Mix ?

I was looking into the Ircam Tools Bundle and landed on the Plug in dealers site.

Got interested in the ones called P+M as sometimes with clients, they don't let me have the time to mess with 400 parameters or even to rework a preset sometimes.

Some clients are a bit more relaxed or better not even present for a mix and then I can pull up something more elaborate and play for a while with the 72 sliders and buttons, but it is more of a luxury these days.

Tried the demos and they really sound shockingly useful for the price, took a while to figure out the "preset" thing as I am used to Pro Tools and I thought they would be up at the top middle. They are just further below, click on the button showing "basic settings" and boom up come the presets to mess around with.

What do you guys who have tried them think of them?

Do they make your tunes dance?

They're made for DontCrack by Nomad Factory.

I always try to convince myself to use the few Nomad plugins I have, but I always end up using others that do the job ... just 'better'.

So I don't expect much from them, didn't even care demo-ing them yet.
Pretty sure I wouldn't like them.

Also, I think the price is too high for the single plugins.
I wouldn't spend $49 for something I probably wouldn't ever use.

It's somehow beyond my comprehension, how they can offer the whole package of ALL P&M plugins for $299 which is roughly the price of 6 single plugins ... and then put 20 other plugins on top as a present.
The other way round would make much more sense. Or have the singles priced in correct relation.

Please, don't say "but they're discounted" ... they've been discounted for the last couple of months, ever since they came out.
DontCrack and Nomad are the manufacturers, the ones who suggest MSRPs of $59 and $599 ... but also the ones who sell the plugins constantly discounted. That's no price policy, that's no "great offer", it's just a simple attempt of make-believe.
Yeah, making you believe that you're getting a good deal at a lower sales price - when they're actually selling them for that price ALL THE TIME. There's no offer, there's no reduction, there's no "you pay less".

Also, the resale policy with Nomad plugins was: if bought discounted, you can't resell.
Now, anybody care to think about that?

But maybe I'm just too spoiled with the plugins I already have.

I couldn't find a place for them either chokehold man. I just ended up swapping them out whilst trying them for stuff I have covered. Don't know if it the quality, Me and what I have already, They did not make any of my tracks dance and now they have that Magma thing out which looks the same along with not that long ago selling all thier stuff for $99 and that was/is their half-decent stuff. Pricing puzzles me to be honest

The integral pack at $99 was good value for money if one didn't have a decent bunch of tools already but it didn't offer Me personally anything I did not already have that I'd always use first so I passed that deal also

btw: does anybody know if it's possible to transfer/sell a license? seraching on their page but can't find anything. will ask the tech support but maybe somebody here is faster

There are some Nomad FX I've occasionally used, like the CP2S Compressor or the Liquid Gate. Also own the Analog Track Box (AM Deal) and I was 'not unhappy' with having and using it for a time, but it's just a toy compared to SSL's Duende Channel, so that's getting no use here anymore.

And that's just the overall impression I have from demoing the (for me) interesting Nomad plugins - they work alright, but that's it. Not blown away.

I have to admit, most of the Nomad plugins are quite old, there haven't been many new Nomad plugs out in the past few years.
And I do believe that 'practice makes perfect', so I would actually expect the new P&M plugins to be better than the antique Nomad ones, but I can't be bothered in demoing all the ones I MIGHT use every now and then... I especially don't have the money to spend 50 bucks for 1 "basic" one-trick-pony processor, or 300 bucks for 26 of them.

But I mean... getting a shitty (I tested them) Reverb for $49 against Valhalla Room for $50 - is it even arguable? Let alone justifiable?!

If they were 10 or 20 Dollars each, then hey, WTF, everybody needs a quick Distortion or Reverb now and then. But the current prices are just way out of relation. For just a few bucks more, you can get decent Waves processors.

Sigh. That's the usual wording from people who didn't read it all but just jump at the first thing they don't like.

I tested both the Plug&Mix EMT Plate and the Eventide Reverb, both were pure sh1te.
Getting one of them would've cost me as much as getting Valhalla Room.
Obviously, I got Valhalla Room.

So...
* knowing the doubtable quality of the old Nomad Liquid Verb and Blue Verb (also got it in an AM Deal)
* knowing the sh1te quality of the new P&M Reverbs
* knowing that Nomad is behind the P&M Plugins
plus
* knowing the not-good-enough-for-me quality of the Nomad dynamics and frequency processors (comp/limit/eq/etc)
...didn't fill me with enough enthusiasm to waste my time demoing the others as well.

So yah, nice if you like them.
As I wrote before - maybe I'm just too spoiled with good plugins.

Monsterboost, clarisonix, degradiator and distorted are great creative tools for kicks.

Here's a bit of an off topic question; if those plugins ar from Nomad Factory, how come it only uses serials as copy protection instead of the C/R from Nomad Factory themselves?

The bundle has lifetime update too, which is a nice extra.

+1 ...there's likely better tools on the market, but both the overall value for money (also considering the lifetime free of charge update) and their ease-of-use philosophy make them quite attractive IMO

I actually like these plugins. I don't like all-in-one stuff, because most of it lacks flexibility. These plug-ins suit my work-flow very well. One plugin for one FX with one big knob and couple of settings. I build my own racks with these plugins in Ableton Live map big knobs to macro and tweak on the fly with my controller.

Regarding the quality I have absolutely no complaints. Some of them are just functional, while some of them are really good. In any case, when you throw couple of these plugins into the rack, you can get really good stuff out of them.

I am a believer in horses for courses. When I need something surgical, I reach for iZotope mainly. When I am experimenting, I like the P&M style effects with a single purpose and a few simple knobs to turn. I own the bundle and find that often the effects get me where I want quickly. They are more vintage-style effects without being overly concerned about being specific emulations (which we have plenty of).

It's been said by P+M on other forums that the plugins were made by a variety of different developers. The graphics were done by the same person who does the Nomad graphics, which is why there's been speculation that they're all made by Nomad. I'm no expert on this, and I don't have any insider info as to how many, if any, were done by Nomad.
