Hi,

i just wrote about my personal experience as i use the synth longer than the users of the demo version. Everybody is free to have his own opinion about the GUI.

I wanted to mention that having a different colour than usual ones (e.g. grey, black) is refreshing.

I also mentioned that a synths GUI is a matter of taste and that that i hope there will be a third GUI to please everybody.

I'm afraid to ask what this is about. :-o

Hmm really dont know what could be going on. Could you please perform the test with one init preset Jbuonacc, like the first one init saw, without unisson, and with no stereo spray ?
:dog: yep, working fine. no idea what patch i was on when i noticed it, or how everything else was set up. sorry for the false alarm.

I have a yellow Waldorf Q and am familiar with their approach of picking bright, unusual colors to add "personality" to hardware synths. I think you mentioned Waldorf in another post.

However, bright, unusual colors become more problematic on a monitor where clarity and eyestrain can be a problem. Most professional software (not just VSTs) does not use huge amounts of bright orange on the screen for this reason.

If I have an open project with the demo of Oxium and then order and install full version .. can I somehow save this preset i've made?

Edit:

nevermind  ... great patch lost, great synth gained :D

No, sorry. the best is to take some screenshots of the presets ( including the different tabs you used )

You can second that by making a rendering to ensure that if there's some fine tunig you can do it by end ( but with the screens it should be very close anyway )

More feedback.

1. Is it possible to keep Oxium in 'Keyboard' view when auditioning presets? At the moment each preset changes the view.

2. I don't think 250 presets is very many for the final synth. Cyclop has 800 and costs 30 Euros more than Oxium after the intro price is over. DIVA had much more as well.

3. The orange skin reminds me of Guantanamo Camp and "You've been Tangoed!" Not pleasant associations. :(

I like the modulation options and what you've done in the mod matrix. Very nice to be able to modulate FX params and Env stages (esp when they feat a looping function). Nice with combinable LFO shapes as well. I am having trouble getting nice smooth PWM (Nice btw to have PWM effecting ALL OSC shapes).

So what are the settings for smooth PWM on Oxium? I get the 'smoothest' result when lowering Amount from 50 to around 30 or 40. I've got the Width straight up "50" setting as it sounds like it is in the middle of the pulse here. Used LFO1 with SINE shape but still not smooth enough. Tried TRI shape as well just for kicks but no go. Also, Attack is not so snappy. I have to use the Filter Env to get a nice snap but if I use this for other purposes it would be nice to have that snap there regardless.

Also, for the record, I like the Orange skin more and more as I work with this. It keeps the programmer alert after a lot of time programming. Still I wish there were no soft glow effect on some of the labels but I can live with it.

Sounds ok to me with PW at 50 and PWM at anything between 30 and 49. I thought the triangle and saw PWM sounded a bit weak, but on the pulse it sounds really good, especially thru that filter.

Oops I made a mistake. The Pulse should of course be set at 25 instead, being that the 50 setting in Oxium reveals a 50% Pulse wave. One should modulate at 25% of the pulse IIRC for typical PWM. Also, at either extreme Width setting the pulse disappears completely so you have to mess around with Amount and Width (a bit more than 25) until you get a smooth transition (or the effect you're after). Yeah, I like the character of the filter as well. I'm settling on Amount 14 and width of 36 for the time being.

If i had one request to be fulfilled it would be to have an extra dll for use with big high resolution monitors .. I wan't to see LFO & Envelopes, Grid AND Modulations so i don't have to jump between them all the time.......... :D

If that's not possible, how about keyboard shortcuts to toggle between them or by using midi/automation commands?

Also: This thing sounds phenomenal!

Yes its a wau for people to learn gradually all the different tabs of Oxium quietly.

In the final version all you have to do is to resave the preset with the tabs you want.

This might evolve over time and we could also consider an option to freeze the wanted configuration.

For the number of presets thanks for asking :

At Xil-Lab we deeply respect Sound Designers , and each preset is commissioned to professional sound designers very carefully choosen, and paid. Some other companies might have different rules.

I like this idea. I can see some difficulties though as most daws also steal the keys for shortcuts. A logic should be found also. But if its doable, why not. We might really consider this in the future :)
