im not really sure what i mean by the message isnt received properly :)
i know its receiving a message because the light flashes on a MIDI track when i move a fader, but it still doesnt move the fader on the audio track.
i also managed to map the fader to the audio tracks fader, which moved the fader in live, but then the BCFs fader returned to its zero position.

(1) i have other controllers connected at the same time but im not moving anything on them during this. i will try disconnecting them in a moment before restarting live and see if that helps.

(2) i am using it in mackie mode. i have tried BCF mode but i couldnt get it working like that either. i would rather use mackie mode if i can anyway because it saves changing it between cubase and live.

(3) all those things match my setup apart from the fact that i am using live 7. also when "track" is not on i do not even get the light on the MIDI tracks receiving messages (although this is probably how it is supposed to be to avoid sending control device messages to an instrument or something). even with all those things turned off though it still does not work :(

the "usb device (2)" channel is definitely the right channel. i know this because of the MIDI receive light flashing when i move the fader, also it is the same channel as i use in cubase. the BCF has always been plugged into the same socket, it is labelled as (2) because my MIDI keyboard uses the first "usb audio device" slot.

thanks for the help. i will go and try disconnecting all my other MIDI devices to see if it makes any difference. ill report back in a moment.

Yeah, it probably might be a faulty USB port on the BCF. I remember another post from someone, who bought a BCF second-hand and also had problems getting it working, because the USB port was broken (but the MIDI ports worked fine).

If you have two MIDI-cables lying around, you could try to hook up the BCF via MIDI-cables (or even daisy-chain the 2nd BCF to your "new" one).
nice call man. My second bcf2000 came today and it loaded up without a hitch. Off to a furious ebay return case...

Sorry to hear that.

I'm afraid I am out of ideas, except you could try out the demoversion of Live 8 to confirm if the problem lies in using Live 7.

Just found this: http://www.kev009.com/wp/2008/05/ableto ... -problems/
