Hi Folks,

Once again, there were many fantastic entries, and it was hard to narrow it down to 5. Here are my votes. Sorry for not having any commentary this time, but I already commented on most of your tracks on Soundcloud.

Skyzone - Moving Mogue (5 points)
Irion da Ronin - (B.E.C. 2) Raising (4 points)
Cactoos - A.S.P. (3 points)
Yeager - How to Catch a Fly (2 points)
Photonic - Dark Side of the Moog (1 point)

I will not have an HM list this time, because I would include almost every entry :)
Great job everyone!

This was the hardest competition I've had to judge so far! There were so many excellent entries! But here's my top 5:

5 POINTS: Photonic - Dark Side of the Moog
I know the reference to Pink Floyd, but it reminds me of the old Harold Faltermeyer movie soundtracks! It's a fun, rockin' track, with a great performance. Compositionally, you have so much variety. The Minimogue sounds are spot-on with some a great arrangement of classic analog. Great Job!

4 POINTS: Yeager - To Oslo and Back
Exciting track. Great performance! I like the variety of rhythm.

3 POINTS: IronDaRonin - Beautiful Electronic Creature Rising
Very expressive! Great composition and solid mix.

2 POINTS: Stonail - Waiting For Fadeout
The FATTEST track of the pack! The change-ups in tempo were great! Great percussion!

1 POINT: Cactoos - A.s.p.
I love the mood of this one! It's so laid back and reflective. It's got a great Bob Marley ballad vibe to it, with a very expressive lead!

And here's some honorable mentions:
HM to Skyzone for 3 very solid tracks. Look out everyone! Skyzone is going to be a force to be reckoned with at OSC!

HM to Kraftraum - Rotation 6
OK I can hear the quirky-cool echoes of Kraftwerk in this one! That being said, the groove makes you want to move!

:D :D :D

Thank you very much for all those points!

It was a risk to try a rock track this time. But it made fun and so I could use the saturation tool a lot.

PWM: honestly speaking, the biggest influence for this track is coming from Dream Theater. They have a lot of tracks with a perfect combination of heavy riffs and nice melodies.

Thanks again,
Photonic

Hi, folks. I haven't participated in the OSC yet, but since the Minimogue is one of my favorites, I thought I'd drop in and vote at least. (And since this month is the Minimoog, I may even join in for July. Usually I just start stuff and never finish, but you never can tell...)

Anyhow...

1st) Photonic -- Dark Side of the Moog
love the lead sound (and playing) and the composition is a very solid base for it. Plays to my bias of using the mini as an attention-grabbing lead instrument. 5 pts

2nd) Skyzone -- Dreamlike Mogue
nice sounds on this one as well; but what I like best is the way it just plunges along like rafting down a river. 4 pts

3rd) Cactoos -- A.s.p
Unusual patches used very emotively. Nice! 3pts

4th) Irion da Ronin -- (B.E.C.2) Raising
First and foremost, it held my interest for 7 minutes. Excellent dynamic composition. 2pts

5th) Yeager -- How to Catch a Fly
Nice composition. Sounds like we're in a hurry to get somewhere, but without sounding like a car chase. 1pts

Very nice month. Thanks for the tunes everybody!

Similar to me... I have about 3-4 unfinished OSC tracks. Welcome in the club :)

1. Photonic - Dark Side of the Moog (5p) [quality, dynamic playing, variation]
2. Skyzone - Dream Like Mogue (4p) [melodic, dreamy, somehow natural]

4. Cactoos - A.s.p. (2p) [instruments fit together, melodic]
5. Irion Da Ronin - B.E.C. 2 Raising (1p) [complex sound design, variety]

Stonail - Waiting for Fadeout
nice glitchy percs, love the twitchy bass part. Captures the imagination! The tempo changes are very disorienting… I can hear the mooginess, but it's hard to imagine it's all mogue! winner by far.

4 points

IrionDaRonin - BEC 2 - Raising
To reprise what I said on SC, I love the way your works always have your distinct sound, regardless of the synth. Also, nice darker side of Irion!

3 points

z.prime - Far From Earth
Head-sticky. Those drums have serious mass.

2 points

Yeager - How to Catch a Fly
Love the way this develops. it's a Dr. Who chase scene!

1 point

dwringer - time dilation
Love the brushes and great soft hat sound, mucho points for creativity.

As usual, hard to narrow to 5 - had to apply some criteria to the "technical" aspects to get the list down.

5pt: cactoos - a.s.p.
The lead is what captured me for this short tune - just great. The sound selection/design is great, too, including percussion. I might tweak the mix a bit (and I'd like to hear an extended version!).

4pt: Yeager - To Oslo And Back
An awesomely energetic piece with nice arps/leads/sounds - another typical quality Yeager track.

3pt: Stonail - Waiting For Fadeout
Unique, rockin', not much else to say - keep it up, your tracks are always stand out.

2pt: Irion Da Ronin - (B.E.C 2) Raising
Another typical Irion track, perfectly assembled.

1pt: Kraftraum - Rotation 6
The whole 'Rotation' series is something with a special kind of uniqueness. I think every rotation keeps getting better.

Also, thanks everyone for your votes and comments this month, as usual they are much appreciated. If anyone happens to want constructive criticism on a track, feel free to PM me.

Runners up (in no order):

Skyzone (multiple tracks) : for me, there are some parts of each track that I like a lot, but I couldn't pick a favorite one - maybe some of the indecision hurt(!). It would be nice to hear what you could do focusing on a single track one month with some of the nice ideas merged together and expanded on. ;) (A side note: it's interesting the variation of which of your tracks that received votes this month - an attestation that everyone has particular musical tastes.)

Dwringer - Afterimages : I'd prefer a bit better mixing, but nice sounds and this track captures my usual mood. :)

Photonic - darksideofthemoog : Not really my style this month, but as usual a great piece of music and awesome hooks throughout.

Pulse Width Modulation - Pop-Collar Lover : dig the 80's style on this track a lot; might have liked a bit more variation throughout.

Nice work everyone.

Hi guys.
Firstly thanks for all the comments on Soundcloud and points this month, i didn't expect too many votes to be honest so i'm really pleased.

Every month i'm saying it. It seems every month is harder than previously, but this one was really hard.
This month i got impressed about how many of you extracted out amazing individual sounds from MinimogueVA. Very well done guys!

My champions this month

1) Yeager - To Oslo And Back - 5 points
Stunning videogamish composition. Nice start, thick basslines and great chords. Driving and moving!!
My 5 points for you. To my playlist. Keep up the good work and cheers.

2) PWM - Pop-Collar Lover - 4 points
Amazing happy and retro composition of 80s. Very well handled and musically crafted. For a future Sonic videogame would be perfect! Lovely.
Keep up the good work. To my playlist too.

3) Z.Prime - Far From Earth - 3 points
Supreme quality track, nice composition and very well mastered.
Don't stop making your typical tracks.

4) Stonail - Waiting For Fadeout - 2 points
Great creative process showing off all that the synth can do. Minimalistic as usual. A very cerebral track which is nice sometimes to give it a go.
2 points for you, keep making minimalistic music, man.

5) Cactoos - A.S.P.- 1 point
Mellow and relaxing. Me likes, just a bit overcompressed, but i can't say too much about that cos i'm not a pro in mastering neither. I fu**ing love that warm lead.
In my playlist. Keep the good work man, you are doing so well. Cheers.

This month there are not honorable mentions, because i practically loved every track.
Here goes some comments, i don't know from where i got enough time...
In no special order...

RuediRena - Hot Stuff
An asian touch here in a quiet track easy to listen. Nice flute sounds, and nice use of layered riffs.

CapDan - I'm A Farmer
Nice groovy track with a great bassline and riffs.

Kraftraum - Rotation 6
Nice berlin style arps, FX sound and lovely leads. The second time you listen the track you note that there are new sounds. Remind of Tron soundtrack somehow. Nice FX sounds too.

Jackoo - Thunder Mogue
Epic composition and videogamish style. I can remember when i was a child playing Sega Genesis. Good stormy track!

Key88 - MinimogueVA
Nice strange vocal and mechanical sounds, difficult to take out from Minimogue i can guess. As usual, a very personnal crazy track (in the good way Mr.Noisy).

Photonic - Darkside of the Moog
Another groovy track with nice basslines riffs and realistic drumsounds. But also, a nice musical composition. Don't you love these drum fills in the end?

Yeager - How To Catch A Fly
Funny image and story of Yeager catching a fly, nice use of FX sounds and the bassline to mark the tempo. And don't forget the victory fanfarre!

Oopfoo - Approximation
Nice Raw sounds and interesting composition. Huge sound!

Loser - One Synth Challenge
Minimalistic beat and bass. Another interesting hipnotizing entry.

Risk - Moguebryonic
Nice drones and cybernetic ideas flowing in a reverse dream.

Capdan - A Minimal Farm
A huge amount of mechanic and super gritty wobbler basslines with interesting sounds (difficult to make) here and there.

AdagioCm - Moogxygene
I see what you did there!!! Hehe. Nice intro and another version of Oxygene in another parallel universe.

Dwringer - Time Dilation
A very relaxed track, a great piano sound, a nice contrast between the lovely piano melody and the dirtiness in the background.

Nikp2000 - The Creeper
A spooky and misterious soundtrack. Very well handled.

Dwringer - Up Tempo
Minimalistic track. I would like to see this one in an arcade RPG videogame as soundtrack. The scene is a sunny day in a field, near to the castle and a river below a bridge. Smooth track.

Dwringer - Afterimages
Mesmerizing arpeggio. Lovely dreamy images comes to my mind. Just the arp, it doesn't need anything more. I loved this one.

Dwringer - Dark Matter
Nice bossanova beat in a hipnotic trip with bubbles and random sounds. Still enjoyable.

Skyzone - Dream like Mogue
Nice energetic sound and filtered landscapes with a good mood and easy to listen.

Skyzone - Moving Mogue
Moving yet energetic ambient track. Hipnotic panned sounds which makes you fall in a moving dream.

Dwringer - Analog Rhythm
God Damn it! Let's go to Hawaii right now! Nice cowbell sounds in a hawaiian rhythmic track. Well done.

MrPresident - Mogue's Groove
Interesting FX sounds and delays in a mechanic-robotic-electronic track.

Skyzone - Mogue Great FX
The energy man is here with another rushing trancey track, yet ambient. Well done.

Have a good day guys. I hope see you in the next OSC. :)
