7 emails in 30mins.... dont even recall signing up :?

Post

So... I can't be the only one here that got an invite? :hihi:

Post

Not a single mail here and I did sign up. I feel hurt.

Or maybe I'm special to them and they want to tell me the news in person!

Post

Just 3 emails here, but I am hoping for more.

Cat situation: Desperate. Please advise.

That was a joke btw... I actually didn't get an invite, at least not yet.

It looks like it actually might be fun to play around with though.

No invite here. I'd have thought that all the cats would have made me a perfect candidate.

Actually, like I said, I really don't care. I have a couple of smaller companies that throw me a bone when something comes out but I wouldn't call my self a "beta" tester. It's tedious, and just because you found a problem doesn't mean anyone will care

(but look, the "popular" guy found one pixel out in some obscure graphic that nobody will ever care about...........he's a hero.....he's so dreamy) Issues? Me? You're imagining things........

Yeah, it's kind of a trade off of services. In some cases you can do a little testing and get free software (or even hardware in some cases). In some other cases, not.

I'm not personally all that interested in beta testing, hammering on, anything I don't want to actually use though.

I applied for the Cubase beta program a few times over like, 10 years. They pretty much told me to go have sex with myself. Not even a polite reply saying "thanks, but no thanks".

Who says it's going to be free? I can remember a couple of times you might get a discount (I'm really going way back but addictive drums was like that)

I'll be honest :hihi: I'll know if it's any good for me or not in 10 minutes (assuming that it's set up  )

I didn't say they would specifically. :hihi: What I said was...

Think about it. You build a beta testing team and then release the software. In some cases the testing doesn't actually stop on release, it's a 1.0 with features still being developed that need testing ... so many people who tested the beta will still be using it and testing it, without ever paying for it.

It's a service that is (apparently for some developers) worth the cost of a license. Not saying everyone does that, but some do.

In some cases, some might require you to re-apply for every major version, to maybe kind of clean away some of the leeches, people not really reporting anything or not even really using the later betas at all.

So... it depends.

Still looks and seems to work pretty much exactly like Ableton based on that video. Sure there's a few enhancements - some neat automation tricks, clip overlay... not worth switching for though, unless Ableton massively dropped the ball with Live 9, which I rather doubt at this stage.

Worth keeping an eye on though. Some of the road map they have for versions 2 onwards promise to be genuinely innovative. Mind you if they don't move faster it's likely enough somebody else will steal there ideas first... Ableton perhaps... now that would be Karma! :hihi:

I don't know....
It looks a lot like Live and the price Tag may or may not be that high but..

People that buy and use Live is mostly for the unique workflow, either you hate or love it.
So, if it is going to be very similar to Live, based on the workflow principle then, no too many new customer will jump on it because it would have already happened with Live.

And for a Live user waiting for the Live 9 miracle, it's too expensive for just jumping ship and not waiting for Live new version.
After all Live 9 could be very much a new beast. Hopefully.

The thing that looks different to me is better switching from session to arrangement. Now, my last version of live was 6 so maybe it's changed but it twas a PITA trying to go between the two last time I tried.

TAB...

And looking at the BitWig video you can show the mixer by a button on the bottom left but then you need to move to the opposite right for further mixer view options. That's inconsistent for a good workflow and it's a very freaking basic one!

No no no, I don't mean switching from one to the other  I meant working in one or the other

I always found the arrangement view to be horrible. Ymmv
