whats a good "vintage" eq

Not compared to other stuff, and the processor hits ridiculous compared to other FX that are the same. the compressor and eq bundle came in at 10% each for an instance of 1 on a quadcore with 3GB ram. But you might want to try them yourself, they sound like they do what they were made for, but nothing really special about them. However Ive heard some people swearing by them, but its nothing you cant achieve with other similar plugins with less processor hit.

ha yea I am in the middle of the demo And I noticed the CPU Hit.
I am getting A computer built right now that could handle this pretty well.A New quadcore with the latest I7 and 8GB ram and all the other goodies. But I think its just not for me at the moment.
so far I have tried alot just listening to how they sound. there boosts and cuts there are lots of great plugins out there. some free stuff sounds amazing to good to be free haha

I must add that I didn't purchase any of them as I decided to go with a "one size fits all" EQ. Which was from Waves, I couldn't resist the quality, so I guess you should check their character emulations out too.

I to have a soft spot for the Neve type EQ's I really like this stillwell one its not perfect but its a nice eq. what waves eq did you get something that can do multiple things seems like a great way to go

Per band you can select a type of EQ it will emulate, and on a global level you can select the character (harmonic distortion) of an emulated desk. Now Waves is careful not to mention which emulations they are, so I'm not sure whether they are exact emulations. In the end, I could get really good results with this EQ, without feeling limited, or wanting more EQs.

A word of warning though, it eats a bit of CPU when on a channel, but when you open the interface, it goes through the roof. Clearly something is amiss with the GUI. Doesn't bother me as it really only happens when adjusting bands. Waves btw, sees this a regular behavior of the plugin.....

ha thats kinda funny I think waves should maybe try to stop that random spiking but quality is quality Ill look into it. Im getting a new comp soon that should be able to handle hungry effects like this anyways thanks for the info i did not know this was also able to do "vintage" sounds

It's not even spiking, it's just the interface, open it, CPU goes up, close it, and it's down again.
But let us know what you will get eventually!

I really like Renaissance Equalizer a lot. I probably used this in 90% of the tacks I have made in the last few years. I even use it for mastering when something needs a little warmth. http://waves.com/content.aspx?id=190 The good news is you can get it really cheap in the musicians 2 bundle along with the great and very useful Renaissance Compressor.
